Hello, I just wanted to say that the 1 in 24

And,it was my first Secret Date set and the
last one with Bryce in the store! Also, these

5.0 out of 5 stars Curious, December 26, 2004

First, Iris Danner, the doll you are refering, Midge in the Happy Family collection, if you pay attention to the package, or the "back story", Midge is married, got married quite a few years ago, she and her husband Alan have a son, and now welcomed a little girl. The husband is not packaged with Midge, unless you were to manage to find a Gift set.

Second, did anyone else notice that the package says that the doll comes with a shirt, pants, bag, DRESS, 2 pairs of shoes, and extras?!

I got two of these dolls, Cleo & Jade, and NEITHER package happened to come with a dress or extra pair of shoes.

I am writing to MGA over this, because all the other dolls come with two outfits at least. Even the Twins Pheobe & Roxxi come with two extra shirts and two jackets.

I find the package is misleading.

And for all those who are complaining about the "message" these dolls send, what are you smoking? They are DOLLS.
There was once an uproar over Barbie as well, but come on now, we are in the 2004 soon to be 2005, not 1950!

If you raise your kids right, they will know the difference between a doll and real life.

I got Nevra and Eitan locally but returned it and ordered Nervra and got Bryce.
P.S. If you want Bryce, look in the window of Blind date for the light tan pants with blue jean material on the back half. He also has brown boots.

A Kid's Review

Okay, okay, calm down, all steaming-angry parents, and all furious kids. It's not the Apocalypse. In my OPINION, this is a great toy.

This toy would be a five-star rating - EXCEPT it had a BIG down side to it.

The down side of this toy?

The commercial for it (most girls see the commercial to get them convinced to buy the doll) is rather inappropriate. It shows whom I would judge to be a twelve-year-old girl getting a letter (why not a phone call? IN MY OPINION):D), then wandering off into some closet, where she changes from looking like a sweet little angel into some (...) wearing knee-high stilleto black boots, a tiny leather skirt, and a (...) leather jacket (Fascinating: what's going on in marketers' brilliantly dulled minds these days, hmmm?) And then she goes to answer the door for her mystery date. I do not believe that this ad was appropriate for the targeted audience (ages 6-10). Not only was the subject (or model) too (...), but there was a (...) voice singing in the background. And lots of (...) moans, like the singer was enjoying having (...). Another kid argued that people should have freedom of expression. I agree, but 'freedom of expression' is hard to define, and it should only go so far. In other words, I don't know why advertisers would have to slam something (...) down a little girl's throat, when the product they're trying to sell isn't even that (...)!

That's right. Rest assured, parents, the product is not at all like the twelve-year-old and her mystery date are in the commercial. That girl looks like a (...), as some of you have put it, but the toy dolls do not. Phew. Just an innocent little romantic night together. Makes you wonder about why the ads can't be that way.

There is no danger attatched to this toy. It's the ad we should have a bite to pick with. Advertising is media, and like it or not, media CAN (I hate this as well) manipulate a little girls's thinking, or anyone else's, for that matter! With the twelve-year-old in the commercial, I won't run too deep into this discussion, as you can draw your own conclusions on how the ad 'twists' a child's thinking. Oh, and by the way, that was a real girl in the commercial, not a doll. So how will a little girl link this to reality? Think about it.

Now, after giving you a big lecture on the ad, and effects of advertising, I'm going to tell you about the doll. I think that this is a very cute toy. Now, some close-minded parents complain about the concept of a romantic night together. I wonder, like Chloe, why those parents are not complaining about Cinderella, hmmm? Why? I know that commercial does not illustrate the 'romantic night together' issue as a point, but what about the doll? Cinderella is a harmless tale with the concept of a romantic night with a Prince Charming, and she is not harmful. Basically, the Bratz Secret Date line is only bringing the idea of true romance into the twentieth century. Bravo. (Clap your hands) Very nice, MGA. (I'm not a Bratz fan) For once, you came up with a theme better than the themes of 'fashion', 'flirting' (flirting and true romance are two different things), or (sigh) 'shopping'.

What do the dolls wear? They don't dress like that girl does in the commercial: they are very finely dressed with jackets and pants. Maybe Nevra's skirt is a bit short, but I'll rest neutrally on this one. The boys are dressed like any Prince Charming eager to please his princess would be. Nothing trashy, or hideous. Think about tuxedoes, and stuff that's very formal wear. The boy even comes with a sweet bouquet of flowers for the girl! Awhhh...you just gotta adore that. MGA must've known about the whole 'inappropriate clothing' stunt, and realized that such trashy stuff will not go well with a date as a theme. MGA even decided to go easy on the makeup here. Very good. Very good.

The accessories include the usual combs and makeup compacts, but now, we also have a bottle of champagne or vodka, a couple of cute little cups, and glasses, so you can act out romantic scenes at a cafe or restaurant. Very sweet.

These are great toys for older kids, and yes, I recommend them over the other Bratz lines (and THEIR awful themes, UGH). I don't have Jade yet, but I want her badly, and I'm thirteen! :-)

Now, if only we could get that ad problem off our backs. Then, maybe adults wouldn't hate this toy so much. Has that commercial stopped airing?

Luna M. Manfield (Not my real name, :-) sorry, I Like to smile)

P. S. I bleeped out all the possible words that may be inappropriate to children to hear, or plain offensive, even to myself.

Please consider the question above for a moment. And think hard before answering it. There is an EXCELLENT piece written by Bratzworld on one of the other Secret Doll pages. I think that one said it all. It's silly to keep a doll's influence responsible for the events in the life of a human being.

And then again, it's YOUR OWN interpretation. Apparently a lot of people that commented on these pages don't think Bratz are immitating "whores". What matters is what your KID will associate the doll with. If you are THAT afraid of Bratz dolls, all I can assume is your 6 year old already KNOWS and UNDERSTANDS what a "hooker" is and what she does for living. And knows and understands what adults do or may do on a date.
Am I wrong? Then please, what are you people afraid of? There is also a review written by a kid. Maybe you should all pay a little more attention to what she has to say. The concept of a special night out isn't new. It's in many G rated movies and animations. It's your own responsibility and task to teach your child about this world. The way people are warning against them makes me wonder if Bratz' influences are stronger then those of parents? If that is really the case, then who of all parties is responsible for the mess in the real world? I think I made my point.

I just got this doll (yesterday) for Christmas. I am a big bratz collector and almost always NEVER open teh packages. When I saw this commerical I told my mother I thought it was a cool collector item or doll for my collecton.

Nerva is beautiful from the package, and I have no obejction on the name Mystery Date. These girls are like 18. It is not promaoting dating it's just promoting a fun pack with a secret boy. No harm....

This is a really great Nevra doll! I am a huge Bratz fan. This doll comes with a "Secret!" Boyz. So each "Secret Date!" Nevra doll, comes with a different Boyz. My Nevra came with Eitan. The doll doesn't have much accessories and clothes. But it is so much fun to play with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Secret Date -- a great idea, January 2, 2005

OK, first off, I'll write a bit of a response to a review for one of these dolls which angered me.
If society wasn't so obsessed with politcal correctness and protecting children from just about anything that can be seen as negative, perhaps that reviewer could interpret 'A night you're sure to never forget' in a less corrupt way. Bratz are DOLLS. Plastic entities which fascinate girls *and* guys of all ages. 'A night you're sure to never forget' could innocently mean that the 'secret date' will be romantic and memorable because maybe whoever the girl meets is one special guy. OK, so maybe the 'target audience' of Bratz are a bit young for that, but then again, these pedantic parents don't seem to be complaining about the timeless fairy tails (and Disney films) that they subject their kids to. 'A night you're sure to never forget' -- Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and most of all, Cinderella. The Secret Date line is just bringing the fairy tale of a magical evening with the boy of your dreams into the 21st century.

Now, onto the review of the dolls...
I really like this line. I'm not too keen on all of the girls; I already have fifteen Bratz dolls of my own (at the age of 19, no less) and I'm not keen on the outfits. I already have the outfit that Nevra is wearing, as GNO Jade came with it originally.
Just because I don't like the outfits does not mean I think the dolls are dressed like prostitutes. Besides, the people throwing these accusations around probablyy haven't even seen prostitutes in real life. The Secret Date Bratz are dressed well, at least, they are 'covered up' and wearing jackets. Maybe Nevra's skirt is short, but that is the style of Bratz. Also, young girls are wearing skirts that size nowadays, sometimes girls as young as 12. I see the Bratz as being aged 16.
The accessories included with these dolls are a good idea. Usually, Bratz don't come with food and drink related accessories, so this is good for a collector who would like to act out scenes at a café, etc.
The boys included in this line are dressed nicely. They come with flowers for the girl, which is a sweet idea. I like that you don't know what boy you are going to get. This is an idea that has been used in toy distribution for years, so it's no wonder that collectors like it.
Overall, I love the Secret Date line, even if it is a bit overpriced in my country (England). Parents: please give these dolls a chance. Think about your reasons behind your instant dislike of the dolls, and you will realise that they are petty. Dolls are DOLLS. If you'd like to believe that they're going to encourage your 6 year old daughter into prostitution, then that's your problem. If the dolls were designed with prostitution and sex in mind, would they really have been released and available to buy in the shops?

I just saw the add for these dolls. A preteen little girl - dressed in high heels, mini skirt, mid riff, and too much makeup for a drag queen getting ready for her big mystery date. I am sorry, but anything that puts this message for little girls is not a product I would ever recommend. Do not buy these dolls that do nothing more than promote teen sex in my opinion.

Amazon recommends these for ages 6-10. Think about it moms - do you want your 10 year old girl dressing like a street walker eagerly waiting to go out with one of 5 guys?
