Hernán Iglesias Illa nació en Buenos Aires y vive desde 2004 en Nueva York, donde escribe para diarios y revistas de América latina y España como La Nación, Gatopardo, Orsai, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Expansión, Brando y Etiqueta Negra.

Es autor de dos libros: Golden Boys (Seix Barral, 2008), una historia de los banqueros latinoamericanos de Wall Street; y Miami. Turistas, colonos y aventureros en la última frontera de América Latina (Seix Barral, 2010), un retrato de no-ficción de la nueva Miami latina.

Ha sido editor de The Wall Street Journal Americas, en Nueva York, y redactor de El País en Madrid. En 2006 ganó el Premio Crónicas Seix Barral, de la Fundación Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano y el Grupo Editorial Planeta, cuyo jurado estuvo compuesto por Jon Lee Anderson, Juan Villoro y Martín Caparrós. En 2009 participó de la antología de cuentos Los días que vivimos en peligro (Emecé).

Hernán Iglesias Illa was born in Buenos Aires. In August 2004 he moved to New York, where he writes for Latin American and Spanish magazines and newspapers such as La Nación, Gatopardo, Orsai, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Expansión, Brando and Etiqueta Negra. His work has also appeared in Slate and Publishing Perspectives.

He is the author of two books: Golden Boys (Seix Barral, 2008), a history of Latin American investment bankers in Wall Street; and Miami (Seix Barral, 2010), a non-fiction portrait of the South Florida city.

He's been an editor for the Wall Street Journal Americas, in New York, and a reporter for El País, in Madrid. En 2006 he won the Premio Crónicas Seix Barral, awarded by Gabriel García Márquez's Fundación Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano and Grupo Editorial Planeta. The members of the jury were Jon Lee Anderson, Juan Villoro y Martín Caparrós. En 2009 he contributed a short story for the anthology Los días que vivimos en peligro (Emecé).
