About a month ago Shirley Tomlin contacted me, asking if I'd try Mila and offer my honest review of it. I'm always eager to try new things, especially if they're related to health, so I sent her my address and in about a week I received a one pound back of Mila - The Miracle Seed.

The information on Shirley's website reads:

The Miracle Seed is gluten-free, trans-fat free, sugar-free, high in fiber and protein, has no taste or smell and can be deliciously combined with many foods! Its supreme biological properties are not diminished by heat in the baking process, therefore making it easy to incorporate into your favorite recipes.

Mila(tm) is a mixture of Salvia hispanica L. seed which has been carefully selected to maximize its nutritional value. The mixture is mechanically processed using a proprietary system that optimizes the bioavailability and increases its nutritional value. Nothing is added to the product - it is a pure form of Salvia hispanica L. and is simply the best available today.

So, what is this miracle seed? I read the package and saw that it's chia seeds. These tiny seeds are touted as having 8 times more Omega-3 than salmon, 6 times more calcium than milk, 3 times more iron than spinach, 2 times more potassium than bananas, 15 times more magnesium than broccoli, 2 times more fiber than bran flakes, 6 times more protein than kidney beans, more antioxidants than blueberries, 4 times more selenium than flax seeds and 9 times more phosphorous than whole milk.

Wow, that's a lot of nutrition packed into one serving of Mila! But...how did it taste? Lazy and frugal person that I am, I simply mixed one scoop of Mila in a glass of water and drank it down first thing in the morning.

The 'miracle seed' is true to its name. I first came across this product at a farmer's market. I was asking a vendor about something he was selling and he started telling me about this product. Oh NO! I thought. Not ANOTHER supplement! I had to walk away fast. I have taken everything you can imagine and spend hundreds of dollars per year on supplements, which help, but I was still feeling a myriad of symptoms, including fatigue, digestive issues, mood swings, etc.

Then a colleague of mine gave me some to try because of his stellar experience with this product. Well, fine. I'll try it if it's free, I thought.

This stuff is amazing. Instantly after taking it I feel lighter, clearer, less anxious, my skin looks better, and definitely have more energy and am in better spirits. I haven't even been taking it for 3 weeks yet, but I feel a sense of deep relief to have found something that truly works to my benefit. As a health professional I will recommend this product strongly. But the proof is in the ingestion, not on the package, which I feel is very understated for what you are getting.

I have no doubt these seeds are an excellent health source. However, they are just too expensive for the average income. A 4 ounce bag costs $20. Then a serving is two tablespoons for the maximum benefits like fiber content. I use just a teaspoon in smoothies and juicers. I won't be purchasing again, because I cannot afford it on my income. I believe there are comparable items just as good. Chia seeds are a much better deal in terms of how long they last.

I tried this product through a friend... when I realized it was just ground Chia Seed, which I already had in my cupboard, I was shocked! This product is $55 per pound through LIFEMAX. You can buy the exact same thing at your local Whole Foods market or online through Swanson Health Products for 10 per pound. You can even buy a pound of Chia Seed for around $10 here on Amazon. You will receive the same nutritional benefits at a fraction of the price. Through LIFEMAX, you must be paying for the packaging and multilevel marketing. Not a good deal for consumers.

The Mila is now available at retail. I have been using it for many months by getting it through a direct distributor.
The mila is a very small chia seed formulation (almost like they are crushed) makes taking it much easier than larger seed forms.
This stuff has so many health benefits you are better off looking up general info on chia seed to see them all.
Great source of both Omega 3's and fiber.
This is good stuff but is very expensive compared to other chia seeds you can buy and crush and prepare yourself.
For convenience and quality the Mila is tops, just wish it were a bit cheaper.

This product is part of a multi level marketing scam and is a rip off. Do not get caught up in this.

Very good product, but a little pricey. Better than most other chia seeds. Decent flavor and can be taken mixed in a glass of water or mixed with about anything. Good in yogurt and smoothies. Will buy again for health benefits.

I tried MILA on the recommendation of a co-worker for weight-loss and all-around health improvement. I have to say it's done the trick, I lost about four pounds and kept it off (only had 5 to lose). I mix it into my oatmeal in the morning - I'd recommend mixing it into something solid, not a beverage. I tried regular chia seeds from the health food store but they did nothing - apparently the seeds need to be ground up. So while MILA is expensive, I make room in my budget because I'd have a hard time living without it now, I'm totally hooked!
