Won Y. Yang has been a professor at Dept. of Electrical Engineering of Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea, since 1986. (Personal Homepage: http://wyyang53.com.ne.kr, Email Address: wyynag53@hanmail.net) He has earned B.S. in Electrical Eng. from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, 1975, M.S. in Electrical Eng. from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, 1981, M.S. in Applied Math. from University of Southern California, LA, U.S.A., 1985, and Ph.D. in Electrical Eng. from University of Southern California, LA, U.S.A., 1986.
He is working on the project of a book titled
"MIMO-OFDM Wireless Communication with MATLAB", which will be published
by Wiley in 2010, and will work on "Digital Signal Processing with MATLAB" and
"Control System with MATLAB". He authored

I have studied this book as part of my PhD research, it has helped me alot. The code examples are good to understand, how to implement wireless communications systems based on OFDM in MATLAB. You should have basic knowledge of communication systems for this book to be effective for you. I would highly recommend this book to people/students doing research in this area.

This book gives a good introduction to MIMO and OFDM. Chapters on the channel models show why MIMO and OFDM are needed. Then, the implemenations of OFDM and MIMO are given.
It is not an easy book to follow, but is worth the effort. There is a large amount of matrix algebra, but that is to be expected since MIMO is inherently a matrix system. The MatLab programs should be first run as examples which aid in understanding. A person should be sure they understand what they are doing before trying to use them in their job or studies.
I ran a few of the programs. Most ran fine. (It uses the Communications System Toolbox.) A few had some typos that needed to be corrected. One (QRM_MLD_simulation.m) called a non-existent function convolution_encoder(s); which I could not figure out how to correct.
In short, I think this is an impressive book for people who seriously want to learn about MIMO and OFDM.

This text is head-and-shoulder above all other OFDM or MIMO textbooks currently available. This is because the authors explain all the technical details carefully, with lots of equations, incisive verbal explanation, and plenty of MATLAB codes. What many other textbooks breeze through in a paragraph, this text gives maybe 2 sections, 20 pages. This is really important, because students want to see the what, the why, and the how, through equations.

In fact, I organized a new graduate course in OFDM & MIMO. After browsing through maybe 10 other texts, I have settle on this one as my class' required text.

The MATLAB codes would be especially useful to beginning research students.

If I must identify a shortcoming, it is that the English could be a bit smoother. This is really a most minor point. The text's English is easy to understand, as is.

I most strongly recommend this text for instructors, and for self-study by beginning students or by industry engineers.

Explain the MIMO and OFDM concepts very good in easy way. The Matlab file in this book, really help to understand these concepts.
