5.0 out of 5 stars Read twice, looking forward to next book!, February 25, 2004
This review is from: MIRROR mirror (Paperback)
As I hail from Long Island NY too, I thought it good to give
a local author a shot and damn glad I did. Grant reminds me
of my ex, well the finer points about him. With respects to
what all else has been said here, ditto. This is a very good
story, excellent for a new author--though I suspect Brandy
Carter is not. A trade-size paperback murder mystery and
yes, romance and laughter, a bit like Janet Evanovich in that way.

I really enjoyed this book. It's refreshing to read about Kate O'Brien, who is NOT depicted as a sissy. And Natalie is an excellent add to the story! Keep it up Brandy!

Kate O'Brian, a software engineer, finds help from a curious detective named Grant claiming to know she is not responsible for the recent death of her fiance David. As the two follow the clues, a darker trail leads them into the criminal underworld and possibly into the path of a sociopathic killer. The character Natalie, we enjoyed as well---a lawyer with a loyal friendship
in Kate. Looking forward to book-2. Well done, Ms. Carter.

I'm not sure if this is Ms. Carter's first published novel. Our family and book-friends have certainly enjoyed her published short mysteries over the years. She's a cross between Nora Roberts, Jayne Krentz (Amanda Quick,) and Patricia Cornwell. That translates into enjoyable easy-flowing stories, with a touch of humor and a tight mystery. Ms. Carter's characters resemble people you meet with a touch more entertainment quality.
In Mirror Mirror, a woman from New Jersey is recovering from the death of her beloved, when she is suddenly set off track by a car accident. She begins to find strange inconsistancies as she tries to heal and move on, especially in a computer game she and her beloved wrote together. Strangers keep appearing about her. She investigates the game and discovers intangible clues showing her belove's easilly dismissed death to be an unsolved murder. ***One request, BRING NAT back in a sequel. She's terrific!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful tale filled with romance, excitement and intrigue!, March 2, 2004
This review is from: MIRROR mirror (Paperback)
Brandy Carter has managed to weave words into a world of gripping mystery that will hold your interest to the last page and leave you begging for more. Mirror Mirror will take you by the hand and lead you down the path of romance with Grant and Kate, while engaging your curiosity with the on-going sagas of the other charactors so aptly described. You'll be left with a longing to know more about Natalie and Louis. The book is not only well written, but it's author and her publisher took great pains to make sure it is a great size to hold and easy font to read. Great job Ms.Carter! I can hardly wait for the sequel.
