EDIT: I'm editing this review. It's only been a few months and this has already stopped working. One battery won't charge. The other one charges, but the saw itself won't start. I'm going to contact MIT about this miserable excuse of a powertool. Don't waste your time. Rent a decent one for the same price, or buy a better one for a a few extra bucks.

I used this for cutting down some brush and trees in my yard. The largest tree was probably 5 inches in diameter. It worked fine for that purpose, though at times I wished it was a bit more powerful. The manual says the batteries take 5 full charging cycles to reach their normal capacity, so the first few charges I only got literally about 7 minutes of run time from them. Now I'm getting about 15 to 20 minutes (probably 8th use, for 4 charging cycles between the 2 batteries). As just an average homeowner, it's fine, it's a little underpowered and the battery life is short, but I'm not a contractor cutting through steel beams or going at project after project for hours and hours. Replacement batteries do seem impossible to find, but I'll probably just upgrade to a better saw if that time ever comes.

I received the product several days faster than expected. Charged both batteries in time as indicated. Used the wood blade and the saw perfrmance was excellent, plenty of power and the blade was very sharp. Totally pleased with the MIT 18-Volt Cordless Reciprocating Saw.

Good saw for the money. Works well and charges fast. Like the case and the charger. Getting replacement batteries is a problem. It is almost cheaper to buy another saw then get a new battery. Over all happy customer.

The first battery failed after about 5 recharges, the second one after about 10. Both batteries were replaced without much hassle. The second set lasted a bit longer. The saw actually performed fairly well - when I had a battery which worked which was not often enough except the that the battery kept falling out due to a poorly designed catch.

I sent this to the saw grave yard. I then purchased a Porter Cable saw (Ni-Cads again). These batteries lasted over a year and now reside in the same grave yard. Think I will just buy a long extension cord.

If you need a cordless saw buy one that operates on Li-Ion batteries, do not even consider this MIT.
