I really like this set. Long handles...yes the cups are more wide than deep (trying to get used to that)...and they are heavyweight, stainless steel...but

- I find dry foods kind of "stick" to these weird "ridges" on the inside / no one has mentioned that and I have to take special care to wipe them out afterward - more so than with smooth stainless/they are not smooth on the inside/bottom. That's as good as I can explain it.

- The larger cups balance on their own when empty without their handles tipping/touching - back to the counter but the others do not. This may not be a big deal to you - but I thought there would be that consistency there meaning when empty all the handles would stay elevated off the counter, not all of them do...and I get annoyed with some tipping back on their handles when empty...is that just me? I have to stack them all into the 1 cup to keep them from doing that...but they do stack nicely.

I like the sizes...this really is the best set for sizes. If you can afford this set - get it. It is a once in a lifetime buy - these will last a lifetime...

I also like how the markings are clearly engraved into the handles and I like how the handles are straightback level with each cup and long.

I have purchased 2 sets of these cups. The first was fantastic - very nice, heavy duty, well made. I don't like that the interior surface is brushed rather than polished but they are nice.

I just purchased set #2 and found that the smallest 4 cups are now made of a material that is approximately 1/2 the thickness of the larger 3 cups. These smaller cups are now kind of flimsy. What a disappointment. I bought these because of their solid construction - and now these are not much better than the cheapies at the local big-box store. I would not spend more than $15 for this set now.

I bought this set because of the odd sized cups that are included. (and they were on sale...)

They are well made (three point welds attach the handles - Calphalon uses 2)), nest nicely so I can hang them all on the same hook, and are quite attractive...

If there is a downside, it's that they are a little wider and shallower than I prefer (the Calphalon cups will nest inside their equivalents), so I knocked them down a bit.. But perhaps that's just me being picky...

I bought a set of these about 1.5 years ago, then decided to get my mother a set for her birthday a few months ago. The quality is now a 1/4 of what is was before - the weight and spot welds of these cups no longer justify their price. That's a pity - because at one point in time these were very well made. If I catch MIU abusing their brand on another product, I'll be done with them completely.

In the mean time, I recommend that you pass on these measuring cups.

I used these a LOT over the last few weeks with all the holiday baking and cooking to do. They feel good in your hand and are a snap to clean up (by hand or in the dishwasher). They also come in handy if someone tries to steal some of the cookie dough -- just give them whack with one of the cups you have on the counter -- even the 1/4-cup one can deliver a blow strong enough to deter such a theif!!!

since the company was founded in HongKong in 1978 and then moved to the mainland 18 years later. Having put the ethinicity thing to rest, I will say that both these and the measuring spoons are heavy-weight and of excellent quality. I also like the larger than average variety (7 vs the typical 5-cup set). I would still give AllClad (which is French but made in the USA)the edge, but you will pay a hefty premium for AllClad.

06/14/06 Update: I noted the 5-piece set (excluding the 2/3 and 3/4 cup measures) was priced at only $11.99. $14 additional for the aforementioned 'odd' sizes seems a bit too much. I recommend the buyer check out the 5-piece set first.

Nice set except for the fact the the handle fell off my 1 cuper. I cannot recommend this product.

wonderful. well made. rounded handle feels nice in my hand. no square edge digging in my palm. conveniently long handle for ease in scooping flour and sugar. pricey but my grandchildren will inherit these and i use them in the meantime. a pleasure to have and use such a well made item. a scoop for every measure i need . they are a bit wider and shallower than most however it is easy to change my mind over to.

I bought this new and the handle fell off the 1/2 cup on the first use. Do yourself a favor and save your money and get the plastic set.

Very nice, beats flimsy plastic. I have broken or otherwise worn out parts of plastic measuring sets. These will probably outlast me.
