Our premium select grade of bamboo is 18% harder than rock maple, making it a superior material for cutting boards and home products. And, it's a totally sustainable natural resource. After harvesting bamboo it grows back quickly since the root system is so dense. Our bamboo products are handcrafted using small flattened bamboo strips glued and pressed together with approved food grade glue, no paints or stains are used. Through a heating process, the natural sugar in the Bamboo caramelizes and turns brown to create these beautiful colors. These cutting boards can simply wash off with soap and water. Oiling it with mineral oil will keep it looking new. Bamboo cutting boards make an attractive chopping surface.

This particular board is made with the end-grain facing up - a must for those of you who have an investment in your cutting utensils. With the end grain up, your knives will not "cut" the board rather, they'll "slip between" the fibers thus protecting the ever important sharp edge of your knives.
I have three sizes of these bamboo boards and they are quite striking to look at with the two-tone colors. They are heavier than you'd think although slightly lighter than the same sized wood boards. I recommend you use food-grade mineral oil or bees wax on the board before you use it as the bamboo will absorb some coloring from items you cut. I also found that acidic foods will also stain the bamboo, even after treating the board first. That aside, these are very nice boards, thick and sturdy. Although I haven't had them long enough to say they won't crack, they seem very well constructed and don't have a grain pattern like wood so likely won't split like a wood board can do if you let it spend too much time soaking and/or let it dry out too much. I like them and hope they give the years of service I expect from them.

The excellent comprehensive review preceding mine covers all but one area: The kind of knives you will use on the board matter! If you have high quality forged knives, bamboo boards will last much longer than if you have stamped knives with tiny serrations--those will tear up bamboo boards fast. If those are what you have, and you like the look of bamboo, consider getting inexpensive poly boards for cutting and save the bamboo for presentation.

Not all it is cracked up to be,

Very nice board that fit the criteria of being pretty and thick which is what my wife wanted. First board ordered arrived with a huge crack in the middle. Amazon was great and sent another board overnight to replace that one. 3 weeks later the replacement board, with very light use, developed a huge crack in it as well. I cannot recommend this product and encourage others to look at different cutting boards.
