not so great as potholders,

This review is from: MIU France Set of 2 Silicone Pot Holders, Blue (Kitchen)
I bought a set of these so that i could toss my cloth "mit" type potholders that were getting badly stained, and somewhat natty after washing. Although i agree with the other reviewer that there are many uses for this product, such as being good trivets, the items just don't really cut it as potholders. trying to bend the squares in half to take a pot out of the oven is just asking for trouble, because they don't easily fold over evenly, and actually heat up after holding items with very high temperatures for about 10 seconds. also, you can burn the tops of your hands on top oven racks if you reach into the oven and you're not careful. i love the silicon cooking utensils and thought i'd love these too, but no....i find i'm still using the nasty looking oven mits i have, and I have not really been able to throw them out, unfortunately. i also find the potholders somewhat difficult to use with pans on the stove- they are just not very comfortable to hold.

I absolutely love these potholders!!!! I have four sets of them. They are great as potholders but they also have other uses. I place them under cutting boards to keep them from sliding on the counter when I am chopping. I also use them to keep bowls firmly on the counter if I am whipping cream. I also use them as trivets when placing hot pans on my counter top.
My only caution regarding this product is that you need to be aware of the location of the hole in one corner of the potholder. I didn't pay attention one day and got a nasty burn pulling a very hot pan out of the oven. If you are a bit of a klutz, like me, best to keep 100% aloe in the house just in case you do what I did. Repeated applications of aloe took the burn out of the fingertip in a few hours. I was very fortunate. I hope this doesn't happen to you. I highly recommend this product.

As pot holders-- these suck!,

I thought they were so great when I first got them. They were so unique-looking and seemed easy to clean. I gave sets to friends.
Over time I realized that these items are so awkward to bend around anything that I was constantly burning my hand against parts of the oven, toaster broiler oven, etc, trying to get a good grip without the item slipping through my hand or fingers. You have a very poor sense of whether you have a good grip on the item -- you can't tell by feel and they block your view because of their stiffness and size (and that also prevents you from even getting to an item in a toaster broiler oven). I have had food spill off the tray many times because I wasn't able to keep the tray level, my grip was so poor.. They also don't retard heat conduction very well so they are not useful as trivets, which other reviewers also mention. And you also can't hold onto the item for very long before it becomes too hot, if you need to carry it to the table. What a waste. Every one of the people I gave them as a gift say they don't use them for the same reasons.
