This unit works fine.

However, do not expect much control over the granularity of your pepper.

I tested by setting out a white paper towel and setting the grid level using the knob to six different settings.

There is *very* little difference from coarse to fine...and fine contains chunks of pepper.

Addendum

The new shipments do NOT include the six AA batteries.

This thing is nice. A good show off item for guest mostly. It does the job well, but our light bulb has burned out in just a few months. So far I cannot find another one (strange bulb).

I love the speed at which I can grind a lot of pepper with this for preparing large dishes. However, the button often gets stuck in the "on" position, so this is not useful when you need to grind small amounts on an individual dish. In fact, the button often turns on when the mill gets bumped accidentally. I have ground a lot of pepper onto the shelf in my kitchen cupboard! My husband hates this mill, despite his love for pepper.

I hesitated to purchase this peppermill after reading some previous posts, but I can honestly say it was one of the best purchases I have made! In fact, my 2 sisters visited from Indiana and I just ordered them each one as a surprise gift when they arrive home. They were extremely impressed with the ease of operation - one handed - just press the button. Easy to fill and very easy to keep looking brand new. All around impressive!

A serious foodie that has been perfecting her cooking skills for the last 25 years in her home kitchen writes this review. My favorite cookbooks are "The Professional Chef" by the Culinary Institute of America and "Culinary Artistry".

I received this product for Christmas and I love it. My husband purchased this in a set of both salt and pepper grinders for me. One has a ceramic grinding mechanism and the one has a stainless grinding mechanism. We liked the first set so much that we purchased a second set within a week. Now we have one with black peppercorn, another with white peppercorns. The salt grinders are filled with Trapani (Sicilian) Sea Salt, and Grey Salt.

I love that these can be used with one hand. I also love that they are so easy to clean with a damp cloth. If you will be handling meat you can cover the button mechanism with a piece of plastic wrap prior to handling the meat and then just remove the plastic film when you are finished.

I find the adjustment mechanism to be more than adequate. We had to fiddle with it a little to get a coarse enough grind, but it took less than 5 minutes. We prefer to see the salt and pepper on the top of our food.

If you use these are often as we do, you might want to consider purchasing rechargeable batteries for this product. These grinders get enough of a workout in our home that each of the four grinders has already been through 2 sets of batteries since this past Christmas.

This is one of those products that I would give to any of my foodie friends. It is just so much nicer to be able to grind spices with one hand. This product is well weighted and feels nice in the hand. I highly recommend this product; you will not be disappointed with this purchase.

I had to send the grinder back due to not working properly and not having the bottom cover for the grinder. I was disappointed because this was for a birthday gift and it was not working and missing a part. I did not order another one.

This peppermill does an adequate job of grinding peppercorns. The light is a nice feature but really unnecessary. Who's going to apply pepper to food in the dark? I would prefer one without the light at a lower cost.

The pepper comes out fairly fast which is good for cooking and adding pepper to dishes with one hand. Sure beats the manual grinder types of mills. I wish the pepper chamber was a little larger but it is an okay size.

I bought the MIU electric peppermill to give as a gift for a friend who is a fabulous cook; I put batteries in it for her and included some top-end peppercorns. I also tested it out and was most impressed with its operation; the light is truly bright and helpful. My friend was thrilled to receive it, but, more important, keeps telling me how much she loves it. I have decided I must have one for myself, and plan to buy others to give as gifts. It's truly a marvelous device, and Amazon had the best price on it I could find. A huge success!

Several years ago I bought an electric peppermill with a light and loved it. It is extremely handy when cooking and the light is a convenient feature when lights are low or eyesight is not so good! The first one I bought broke within 6 months. I was very disappointed, because I enjoyed using it. I replaced it and that one broke as well within a year. When I found this manufacturer I decided to try it. The quality is much, much better than other manufacturers. I studied the mechanisms of the other ones so I could compare the quality. I've had this one for over a year with no problems. Whether it's dinner parties or family meals, everyone loves to use it. This year I bought a few of them for Christmas gifts and delighted my friends and family!
