I ordered two of these, and just put them up today. After reading other reviews of magnetic knife holders, it's clear that the main complaints are 1) the magnet is either too strong or not strong enough, and 2) some of them are just too flimsy.
This knife holder is perfect in every respect. Both the body and the mounting brackets are made from very heavy-gage stainless steel. It is easy to mount, easy to clean, and the magnet seems to be just the right strength, which is critically important. Either too strong or too weak would be flat-out dangerous!
Figure that the 15-inch model will hold 6 to 8 knives, depending on the size of the knives and how far apart you like them.

Contrary to other information you'll find here, this knife bar is not too heavy, nor are the magnets anything but perfectly powered.

The mounting hardware provided will safely mount the holder to any horizontal surface, even drywall. All you need is a drill and a screwdriver. It takes about five minutes.

The magnets are strong, but not too strong. Weak hands can always slide a knife off instead of the brute force horizontal yanking method.

I purchased two of these and mounted them under my cabinets. One wouldn't be large enough to store all of my metallic goodies. In addition to knives and cleavers, I also stick accessories like my peeler on there. The knife bar is so stylish and its stored items so conveniently located that there's no notion of clutter.

These are a must-have for any kitchen.

This item is extremely well built, sturdy and very easily mounted, with easy removal should it be necessary for moving, remodeling, etc. Extremely good with holding lOTS of knives of all sizes. For lack of horizontal space to mount, I had to mount it vertically, and attach knives on an angle - even with this unusual mounting, the knives are held very securely and do not shift or slip. I am VERY pleased with this product.

Compare it to other magnetic holders and it's about the same. The price is in the lower margin and I liked it. The hold is strong and you really don't have too much trouble setting it up. It looks sexy. The only complaint is that the edge of the magnet is not shear--it sticks out a little, and has knicked up two of my knives by sliding them off as opposed to pulling them off. Watch out!

As others have mentioned, the magnet in this holder is incredibly strong and would (I imagine) provide years of service; however, the frame and mounting hardware are not of a corresponding quality. I attempted to install this using the provided drywall screws and had just decided to find alternate (better) hardware when I accidentally knocked the bar from a shelf to the counter--a distance of less than a foot. That short fall damaged the bar beyond repair. The front grid bent in several places and due to the extremely soft nature of the material, I was unable to reshape it adequately enough to refit it to the bar. Based on the other reviews and the quality of the magnet, I'd guess this is a great piece that performs as expected...just treat it very, very carefully when installing and definitely avoid the included mounting hardware.

I love this knife holder. The magnetic strength is just right; the knives don't fall off but are still easy to remove (no scratching).

Not only is it useful, it looks like a piece of art....NOT your usual Knife storage Bar.

At this price, it's not only stainless steel, it's a steal!*

The good:
It looks great--shiny and sleek, holds the knives very well, and has a nice heavy duty look and feel to it.

The bad:
The box it came in has a template on the outside to help you line up the screw holes without having to use the holder itself. However, the screw holes on the holder did not match the template. Fortunately, I checked first, otherwise I'd have had to redrill and I don't really want to have extra holes in my wall.

The drywall anchors that came with it are not very good. One went right through the wall and dropped out the back, then another spun in place. One works fine (I bought two holders, I didn't bother trying to use the 4th anchor). I had to go get better anchors and use those.

The not-so-sure:
The knives actually contact the outer rim of the holder, not the wide center portion. This is good for avoiding scratches to the holder, but I'm concerned that over time it may scratch the knives, or knick their edges.

All in all:
Now that they're in place, they look great and do their job well.

This product works great, looks great and is a great price! Keeps my knives dry and handy while saving tons of counter-space!

The only qualms I had were with the screw anchors they give you in the package. They are a piece of poo--they bent the instant I tried to hammer them into the wall. Do yourself a favor and just get some heavy duty plastic anchors from the hardware store and don't even mess with the ones they give you.

This product would get a 5 if they didn't skimp so badly on the hardware!

I am very satisfied with the magnetic knife storage bar. It works well in securing the knives without clinging so hard they are difficult to remove. The unit is very attractive and is an eye catching display over the cooktop. Several friends have asked about it and where it was purchased. The only improvement might be a continuous lenght of magnetic strip rather than the individual magnets as more knives could be attached.

Easy to install, nice strong magnet (but not too strong, as others have pointed out), aesthetically pleasing. Oh, and cheap. Gotta love that!
