4.0 out of 5 stars Works great for thin cuts of meat
This tenderizer works very well for thin cuts of meat, like those used for country fried steak (about 1/4 inch max). The blades are too short for thicker cuts. For those, I would recommend the stainless steel needle tenderizers. Otherwise, its very easy to clean, fun to use, and does a great job!

MIU Stainless-Steel Rolling Meat Tenderizer
A couple of previous reviews which I read prior to purchase provided clues that this product was not a MIU France item, but I ordered it anyway because of good success with Amazon on past purchases. Upon receipt, I gave the item the once over. 1) Visual Inspection --- Packaging: No MIU identification on packaging. Instructions/Users Guide/Warranty: No paperwork at all included with this item. Item proper: Item was not badged in any way--No MIU logo or MIU trademark and no part number anywhere on the item. Only label was a "Made In China" stick-on label. 2) Functional Check --- The roller shaft (that supposedly doubles as the roller blade retention mechanism in no way performs its intended function. The safety flange does not fully engage in the locking clip and thus the shaft rotates freely and quickly migrates out of the assembly unless you deliberately apply heavy pressure to keep the lock somewhat engaged--even knowing the problem, I could not always keep the shaft in the housing assembly. This is a SAFETY PROBLEM. Blade assembly could easily become completely disengaged from the housing and cause personal injury to hands and/or feet if it rolled off the countertop. 3) Operation --- The item does a good job at tenderizing thin cuts of meat.
I do not personally believe that what I received is a true MIU France product or a product built (outsourced) to their design and build specs. The actual MIU France item may be of superior quality as they are widely known, but I wouldn't know.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mui and meat thickness, March 4, 2008

I ordered and used the Mui tenderizer, but I think it works better with thinner cuts of meat, and larger cuts so you have room to maneuver it back and forth.

3.0 out of 5 stars rolling meat tenderizer -- time saver, October 24, 2010

I found the rolling meat tenderize helpful although it would probably work better for meat than for chicken (which was my use).

I thought there was a flaw in the design. The pin that holds the wheel is too short and tends to slip out of the hole designed to keep the wheel in place. Also the latching mechanism for this pin did not work. The end of the pin could not be pressed into the locking loop. I was able to use the product for what I was doing but correcting these flaws would make this product even better.

It is easy to use and easy to clean. It is very sharp and disassembles easily for dishwasher cleaning. It just rolls and pokes. Everybody likes that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great portable meat cuber/tenderizer., October 28, 2007
This review is from: MIU France Stainless Steel Rolling Meat Tenderizer (Kitchen)
This is what I was searching for to fill my needs of tenderizing meats! It is portable and easy to clean. It does a decent job of tenderizing my steaks. I thought about a larger unit but thought I'd chance this one because it has a low price tag. I used this item and worked good for me and a friend borrowed it and liked it also, so I ordered more for my friends who were impressed with this little gadget!! I love stainless steel products.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Slices, It Dices...well, not really, March 29, 2011

Having tried all the other types of meat tenderizers...the mallets, the tried & true "fork" method, and even those spring-loaded blade devices, I decided to give this one a try.

Like previous reviewers say, this thing works best on thinner cuts. But the thing it has over all of the other tenderizers out there, is that there's no "pounding" involved. Even with the spring-loaded gizmos, there was still lots of "slamming the tenderizer into the meat" going on. If it's only one steak, that's ok. If you're preparing for a family, that could wear yer arm out quick. With this thing, it works with the same motions as used with a Pizza Cutter. Just push it back & forth across the meat a few times, turn the meat & run it the other direction...creating a criss/cross pattern...flip the meat over & repeat. Takes about 5 seconds per side for a decent sized steak.

As a previous reviewer says, if ya wanna include seasoning in/on your meat, apply it before you tenderize. I'll add a step to that. Wet the meat down just a bit. I take a handful of water, pour it over the steak, and rub it around to get the whole thing wet. Then just add the seasoning, and immediately run the tenderizer over it. This lets the seasoning "soak" into the meat a bit.

Works really well. Is very sharp, so be careful, also, while using be careful not release the latch while using. I really like it.

A must have for any cook. This little easy to use gadget can take any cut of meat and make it tender and juicy with just a small amount of rolling. A much better tenderizer than those mallets. Less mess, and much easier to use.

Love this to flatten chicken breasts for grilling or chicken parmesan. Also great for making braised steak.

Purchased a second unit for my daughter.
