This french fry cutter does an excellent job, quick and easy slicing, with good leverage. Easy clean-up too, toss it in the dishwasher.

I bought this to avoid buing and expensive mandoline to make my sweet potato fries. What I leared is... the sweet potatoes are too hard for this cutter to work well. Neither my husband or I could get the sweet potato to cut. We had to take it out and chop them by hand. It works very good on regular and smaller potatoes though.

I would definately recommend this over the cheaper plastic models out there, but I would also caution that it is not for the weak-armed. It takes a lot of muscle to use this french fry cutter, and I always have to make my husband do it. Overall, though, is tough enough to do the job, as long as you are too!

I do not even rate this one star, but the website does not go any lower.

We used this product only once before we had to throw it in the garbage can. It was not very sturdy and bent after normal use. Would not buy another one.

I bought this and just used it it. Makes your cutting easier. The potato does not go all the way and I had to push through but overall I think this is a good buy. I have had hand held fry cutters and had the same prob with the potato going all the way through so overall not bad for the price. I like the look of it also goes well in my gadget kitchen :-).

Well.

I must say that the fries that I prepare are pretty good and do disappear on Poker nights. Still this product isn't bad for the money. If you use the Russet potatoes like me than most of the small ones will be fine. Larger potatoes you'll have to grind down and make sure they are good and wet. Although I have thought I have broken it several times, it still seems to work. All in all a decent product for the price.

I bought a MIU France PROFESSIONAL stainless steel French Fry Cutter with 2 interchangeable blades ( 1/2" and 1/4" cuts ) from Amazon.com site, and used it for the first time
to cut some sweet potato/yams fries with the 1/2 inch size grid cutter, during this thanksgiving yr 2012 cooking.
The whole blade assembly just broke apart and the blades became separated from the square frame of that piece,,,, to my horror I realised for the first time that..
There was no welding or any strong bond to keep these blades in place inside the square frame.
The individual blades themselves are thinner/flimsier than a razor blade and a few have easily warped...
The groves in the blades keep them in the grid formation and there are holes in the frame that holds the grid loosely in place...
Very very dangerous gadget to use in a household kitchen.... these 'blade grid pieces' are a hazard for any user .
The blades will not stand up to the necessary pressure required to do this cutting.

Make sure you microwave the potatoes first to somewhat soften them up. If you apply to much pressure, the cutter will bend.
