The MK-660k is a fine tile saw,
By Richard Roybal (Cheyenne, WY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: MK Diamond 153330 MK-660K 3/4 Horsepower 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
The MK-660K tile saw is a beautiful machine. Not only in looks but also the way it cuts through tile like its butter. The saw sets up quickly and with the free folding stand makes any size job less effortless. This saw has many features the profesional or do-it-yourselfer will appreciate, from the removeable water reservoir, which makes clean up very easy. To the lightwieght of the unit which makes getting it to the jobsight easy. the reason I gave it 4 stars is because, when cutting 1/2 inch off of a 12 inch tile on the left hand side of the blade the tile runs into the frame that holds the motor.

Great Saw,

This review is from: MK Diamond 153330 MK-660K 3/4 Horsepower 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
This saw cuts tile like a champ. Quick setup and easy use with very solid construction. If the stand is not included with the saw when you buy it, make sure to buy that also, it is a must-have. My only other experience with a wet tile saw was with the el-cheapo model from [local store], there is no comparison between that saw and the MK-660. The only reason I didn't give this saw 5 stars is because it did not include a fence for making diagonal cuts. In a higher-end saw such as this, I would have expected that this relatively inexpensive accessory would have been included.

Quite Saw,
By Kenny Brutcher (Greensboro, NC USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: MK Diamond 153330 MK-660K 3/4 Horsepower 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
Well let me start by saying that my old saw was a MK370.The difference between the two was night and day,on the rails the 660 was 100 times more accurate than the 370 .Its alot more smoother and alot quiter. What I found was the 660 was alot more messy ,I mean that I could not set this saw up in the house I was working in like in the past.Sure I alwayse had to put a tarp down and rig a back spalsh but it was ok.The 660s table is not as deep as the 370 so you have to hold the tile more firmly.I miss the extra clearence under the saw the 370 had,for freehanding cuts.the pump is alot bigger and better.the saw seems to have as much power as the 370 but its alot smoother. I am glad I got this saw as a up grade to the 370 and would buy again.Cant see my self buying one of those 100 lb saws to do all the tile I do,just seems like a whole lot of work for the normal 10 or 12 cuts you have to saw ,and cant brake.Mabey if I was doing 18" marble I could afford a helper to carry my saw for me(:All around a great saw ,just remember this saw was a 7" not a 10".I think for a 7" its top notch.Dont be afraid to buy this saw.

Fine Piece of Hardware - Exceeds My Expectations,
By
This review is from: MK Diamond 153330 MK-660K 3/4 Horsepower 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
This wet saw is outstanding. What I enjoy most is the robust aluminum rolling tray and track system, which is very well designed and very well built. In particular, the yellow tubular guard along the left track essentially serves as an umbrella to protect the track & roller from the harsh grit (that splatters a lot from these wet saws) and becoming embedding into the roller bearing that would bind the tray badly. Second, the tray is heavy cast aluminum with nice finishing details. I thought it might be a heavy plastic composite from the pic. Not so! Also, the tray with a heavy rear square curb serves well for the T-square, bullnose (included), and other miter/bevel gear to clamp upon. The whole saw with its superbly built cast aluminum construction (arm and all the red pieces), welded steel base, sealed motor/electrical fittings, and the fine details exceeds my expectations. I am very pleased with my purchase. I have confidence this saw will perform excellently, especially with the smooth, accurate tray & track system, for years and years.Post-350 ft2 & 36ft2 job: This saw performed better than I expected. I knew it had a great design and was well built, but after finishing my kitchen, eating area, hallway, foyer and adjoining bathroom and cutting 110 cut tiles, I can truly say how glad I was to have a good saw like the 660. Worth every penny. It was really nice to have the overhead blade to see exactly where you were cutting (i.e., my crayon marks) for precision.

An excellent Wet Tile Saw,

This review is from: MK Diamond 153330 MK-660K 3/4 Horsepower 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have been looking for a tile saw for a while, and after reading all the reviews and recommendations, I opted to buy this product. The package came complete and ready to use. After a few minutes assembling the hardware and testing it, I was extremely amazed of the performance. The motor is extemely quiet. The construction is very solid that, I think, will probably last forever. This is the one that you need not only for your home improvement project, but also for other use. In fact, I was able to finish my bathroom in no time with a professional looking new ceramic tile on it with the help of this beautiful machine. Very much highly recommended.

ok..here we go, first review ive' ever writen so bare with me. So much to cover here, im' gonna start off with a much simpler way of rating, much like that "magazine" does for consumers.1. construction-outstanding 2. precision cuts-outstanding 3. noise level-i was amazed!! 4. accessories-you get it all.(i upgraded on the blade) 5. packaging-outstanding as well. 6. price-i've shop around and around. no sales tax/shipping..duh. 7. set up-if you can set tile, you should'nt have a prob. Now, after receiving my new MK i was so excited, yeah you know the feeling, "i have one you don't" feeling..hahaa..anyways i openned up the box read a little and started the assembly process. very simple (15mins). as i assembled i also did the "inpection" thing (know also as the QA inpection) i was so impressed with the quality/materials used by MK. Everything from the welds/paint job were outstanding. IF i were building my very own from scratch, id use the same!! im' no professional tile setter, fact is work behind a desk, my background is working with very precise equipment such as 1/4 million HP gas turbines engines and repairs on Nuc powered submarines. Infact after assembly of my new MK i pulled out the "dial indictor" JUST to take a few run out readings for my own peace of mind. I do all major types of home repairs. Most of my clients are my own CoWorkers, so my reputation is much on the line for quality work. A couple of notes here are, if you have large hands, the distance between the bottom of the motor housing gets pretty tight when running the tile thru, also when cutting in from one direction into the other (a 90'notch out) cutting is limited, for large cut outs you'll have to lift (right/left) the sliding table to get a little more depth. the electrical cords have a "support" thats attached to the housing, you wont' get the "insulation breakage" on these cords anytime soon. you also get the "goodies" various fences and wrenches, all you're missing is a tile job!! Now a couple of thing that i would improve on are the "rail bearings" (brass sleeves), the table has a few thousands "play" side/side.i believe the tolerances could be tighter.and the water "tub" i'd add a few more mils to the plastic. i put my new saw to the test yesterday at "picky" coworkers' home. it performed just like i expected for the price, A MUST BUY.***** hope you enjoy your new saw as well.

Specs incorrect,

We returned the saw because the ad proported that it made a cut that was 2" deep. The outside of the box read 1 1/2" deep but the specs in the owners manual read 1 1/4" deep. We returned the saw for the larger saw.

This saw IS NOT Professional,

This review is from: MK Diamond 153330 MK-660K 3/4 Horsepower 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
Anyone who says it is, is not qualified to rate it. For the average home Improvement specialist I am sure it will be just fine. For ripping 6x6 tiles this might be the saw for you. I bought the protractor to cut angle tiles and when on the left side of the blade it works great. HOWEVER if you need to use the right side of the table the knob on top of the protractor hits the motor mount and prevents you from cutting tile. For an extra $90 buy the Mk100 and 2x the horse power a 10" blade, free stand 14" diagonal rip capacity and Much more motor clearance.
Cons: Will not rip a 12" tile Diagonally Will bog down on some tiles The accessories do not work well with the motor design. |
