5.0 out of 5 stars MK Diamond 770exp
This is the saw that home improvement centers should carry. I do 10-15 tile jobs per year for friends and friends of friends plus myself and family. I do not need a $900 10" saw. However this saw rips and diagonals the same size tile. It has the same adjustments and capabilities as the more expensive saw. It may not have last as long as the saw doing 50-75 jobs per...

The MK770EXP is light weight. Its "DC" motor has a lot of toqure for its size but it is a right angle "gearmotor". These gears have a lot of backlash (about .200" at the circumferece of the wheel). The brushes "will" need to be changed out and they of course rub on the commutator which resonates through the gear head to the wheel. This vibration tends to chip my tile...

However this saw rips and diagonals the same size tile. It has the same adjustments and capabilities as the more expensive saw. It may not have last as long as the saw doing 50-75 jobs per year, but neither will I. This saw will give the average DYI the opportunity to make their job professional. A great saw at a fair price that will last a lifetime, versatile, easy to use, and accurate. [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars An excelent saw, February 23, 2008
This review is from: MK Diamond 160267 MK-770EXP 1-1/2-Horsepower 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
This saw is an upgrade for me from the MK 770, and I could not be happier with my purchase, or the manner and short time in which it was delivered to my business.
All the spec's, details, photos and prices I needed were there before me on screen, to do all the comparisons I needed between saws and prices.
I have used various MK products through my life and always relied on them for their dependability and accuracy.
This is the first online purchase I have ever made with Amazon.com, and will by no means be the last!

This vibration tends to chip my tile entering the corners and on exit. Out in the middle of the tile with constant pressure its fine. Consider the MK100 with its "AC" motor and belt drive(it should have a much smoother cut). Loosing those noisy brushes, that need changed, for belts that also will wear out, but I think worth the trade. Gaining the 10" wheel would also have obvious benifits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amanzing Saw, January 22, 2010
This review is from: MK Diamond 160267 MK-770EXP 1-1/2-Horsepower 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
I Been using the mk770 for a while now for DIY projects. I would have to say this thing never disapoints. Mine was built in early 2000 everthing on mine is stamped USA and the motor is assembled in Germany. I saw a newer version in the store and I cant say its at all made in the USA maybe assembled but not made. Im not sure if it realy makes a huge differnce as long as the spec's are very acurate on the outsource build. Guess time will see.
I have only cut natural stone on mine travitine and slate. And it cuts like butter with a hot-dog blade. Im very please with the pan and pump. The pump is 7 years old and has no problems. The pan will go thou allot of cuts before the water needs changed. The saw can be used for straight, 45 Degree, and plunge Cuts. Also if you Feel like tempting fate you can remove the saw and use it like a handheld Grinder.
The build qty is well built. Everthing feels solid. It is heavy but dosent way anywear near a mk101. Its can be setup in a room but doing remodles and I have to set it up outside becuase of the dust it creates. The dust is about what you would expect for a AVG wet saw.
Overall MK did a very good job building this saw The only complant I have is the pump I wish the water tube could be setup without the tray pushing it around. This saw has been thou years of use with no maintance. Its already paid for itself over and over agian. The saw has enough power th rip thou 18" travitine in no time. There is no movment anyware in the frame build. Its solid periode. I would recomend this saw over and over agian.

Pro's
*Solid and not to heavy
*Rips,45 Deg cuts, plung, up to 18" Tile.
*7 years use no issue so far
*Enough power to cut hard stone
*Water Pump Qty
*Easy to breakdown fits on standerd size shelve's

Con's
*Waterpump tube location Movable but seems to always bee in the way

Late reviewing this wet saw and the stand which I purchased a couple of months ago, but I can't say enough good things about it. Easy to use...really smooth cuts...does a fabulous job! My contractor and I have each used it to trim the tile for a new bathroom. We both loved it. He said it's the best he's ever used and he has had occasion to do a number of large tile jobs in the past. Great wet saw...highly recommend it. You'll love it, too!

This review is from: MK Diamond 160267 MK-770EXP 1-1/2-Horsepower 7-Inch Wet Tile Saw (Tools & Home Improvement)
This saw at first glace looks like it is going to be perfect for what I needed. It was light weight and could cut 20" tiles. Until I actually found out if you wanted to cut them in half, it didn't quite do it and the table just wasn't quite big enough to hold the tiles. I had to have a helper help hold them. No problem I moved on and started to cut. The saw was quiet and smooth everything was going well, then the tray wouldn't slide. It started to get caught up on something. I tried a couple of different lubricants none that would do the job, finally I found that lithium grease was the best thing for it. The next problem that I had is it started to get loader, the noise was almost unbearable. Then it would cut out like a power surge. Then it just gave it up and the motor stopped and smoke came a rolling out of the motor. I made about 10 to 15 cuts with the saw and that was it. In my review this is not a good saw.

5.0 out of 5 stars MK Tile saw, December 27, 2010

I looked around alot before I bought this with function and size/weight being a big factor as I set it up by myself most of the time and it is doable. This MK 770exp is a beautiful saw. I was alittle concerned with power and the 7" vs 10" blade but it seems to have all the power I need and the 7" blade has been more than enough 99% of the time. I do tile work and rock work and it zips though both very well with the right blade. Water system works well but I decided early on to use clean water in a bucket for pick up since the used water can get pretty grity/dirty and I didn't want to subject the pump to it. So far after a year it's going strong and I love it.
