0-degree tooth rake for steel | |
![]() 7-degree tooth rake for thinner & softer metals like aluminum. |
TCG (Triple Chip Grind) Cutting Tip Configuration makes all tips strong since the load is shared between teeth. This maximizes the resistance of each tooth to chipping.
Blades with more teeth are used for finer cuts and to cut thinner materials.
Blades for cutting steel have 0 degree rake. This configuration creates a stronger tooth with more carbide where the cut is being made. Blades for cutting softer aluminum and thinner metals have 7-degree rake. This creates a more foreward cutting action.

In laboratory tests, the Metal Devil cut through 6-inch by 1/4-inch thick steel plate in less than 12 seconds on the first 20 cuts.
Cuts Metal Longer
The unique metallurgy of the carbide tips and hardened steel inner plate combined with the configuration of the teeth and manufacturing quality create a circular saw blade that makes more cuts in metal than other blades you attach to a circular saw.
After watching a Morse Metal Devil; blade make 700 cuts in 12-inch by 3/8-inch Aluminum Plate, our laboratory testers wore out before the blade. Tests cutting angle iron and steel plate also showed that the Metal Devil can be expected to deliver long life performance on virtually any metal-cutting application.

Cool Cutting Means Safer Cutting
Imagine cutting through a piece of solid steel then immediately picking up the pieces by the cut edge. With the Metal Devil you can do it. Think of how much time you'll save without having to wait around for parts to cool before you pick them up.The Morse Metal Devil also minimizes the sparks generated when cutting. With limited sparking and cool cutting action, the chance of sparks smoldering in nearby materials or of being burnt when picking up a freshly cut part are eliminated.
Cool Cutting Means Cleaner Edges
Cool cutting means that painted surfaces will not melt at the cut, leaving paint right to the edge. This is especially helpful when cutting prefabricated building materials such as metal roofing and siding.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION FROM MANUFACTURER:,
This review is from: MK Morse CSM72550SC Metal Devil 7-1/4-Inch 50 Tooth Steel Cutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch and Diamond Knockout Arbor (Tools & Home Improvement)
The Steel blade is best suited for 1/4" materials. When possible use a Thin Steel blade on 1/8" and under mild steel materials. Also, blades will spark once the carbide tips are worn off. This usually happens when the machine is pushed through the work piece. Try easing back. As you know, you can't do to metal what you can do with wood. If anyone is wondering if this applies to them to here's how to know for certain: Take the blade off and look around the arbor hole. Did the flanges scratch your blade? If so then its time to ease off! M. K. Morse Technical Service can help anyone with a question or concern.

Very good for cutting mild steel of 1/4" and less. Beats friction blades by 50%.

This review is from: MK Morse CSM72550SC Metal Devil 7-1/4-Inch 50 Tooth Steel Cutting Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch and Diamond Knockout Arbor (Tools & Home Improvement)
I recently used my new Morse blade to 'rip' some 1/8" angle-iron length-wise. It was simply amazing! The cut went very fast (much like wood) and the resulting cut was smooth and cool to the touch. I used an inexpensive B&D circular saw with this blade. It cut much cleaner and straighter than I could have done with my small bandsaw or a cutting wheel on a grinder. If you get this blade make sure that you use good eye protection (I use safety glasses AND a full face shield) because the blade does throw fine metal filings. However these filings are a lot easier to deal with than the mess that you get when cutting metal with an abrasive type blade.
