Much better than 2k9,

I really like this game. I spent the time to tweek 2k9 and finally got it fun but 2k10 is all around much better. Right away I configured the controller buttons and scaled down the video (had to go to 800x600 with x2 antialiasing because I have an older video card, geforce 6800 GTO). I recommend doing these two steps before playing. After that it was game on. The graphics are smoother, pitching is better, load times are faster, and it has not crashed on me yet. The announcers are good, hitting is tough as it should be, and this is just an all around fun game. I know 2k has struggled to produce a great baseball game and has taken a lot of criticism in the past. I am greatfull for their continued efforts and their commitment to produce the game for the PC. My days of mourning the loss of the EA sports MVP series are finally over... This game is fun and tough in all the right areas.
The graphics do not seem quite as detailed as 2k9 but I much prefer the faster load times and smoother game play of 2k10. Even with my lower settings the graphics are very good. There are a few quirks as sometimes players don't do what they should and seem confused. This is rare, however, and hasn't taken away from my enjoyment. I play hardball in a 35+ league and see players much more confused than this in real life. Baseball is one of my passions yet I am willing to overlook a few quirks as long as they don't interfere with my enjoyment of the game. My $29.99 was well spent and I'm glad I went and bought it on openning day. Thank you 2k Sports! (I have not tried out the network play yet so I can't comment on that)

I'll be the first to admit that I suck at MLB 2K10 for the PC. This is my first baseball video game and while it looks great, the learning curve is extremely steep, to the point where it's not fun.
The pitching and batting mechanics (using a Xbox360 controller with the PC) are interesting, but you have to be so perfect in the timing and execution that it's a killjoy. While hardcore fans or someone used to the mechanics from a previous MLB 2K not have problems with this, you're going to feel lost if you're a newcomer. Like I said, everything's about timing and execution and the game's drills are very poor in helping you hone your skills. For example, in a pitching drill, every time you throw the ball (a total of fifteen times or so before you need to re-load the drill) you're supposed to do a different pitch. How is that going to teach you anything? It should be set up so if you want to throw a fastball, you can try throwing 200 or so fastballs in a row until you get it right. My other gripe is the fact that a Xbox360 controller doesn't seem to be 100% compatible with the game. The game mostly works with the Xbox360 controller (mostly, that is; sometimes you can't advance to the next event like pitching the ball because the "A" button doesn't register, although you can drop back to the menus where "A" works fine. This is with a wired Xbox360 controller, btw), but "C" and "D" buttons? Why can't they display "X" and "Y" on the screen? Or have an "Xbox360 mapping setup" config screen where they show a picture of the controller? I'm being nit-picky but you'd think with an Xbox360 controller, controls should be plug-and-play flawless, and they're not. I'm hoping MLB 2K10 is like typing, a pain to learn but resulting in great rewards if I stick with it.

Although the box says you can play this game with a keyboard, it's patently untrue. I bought it with that as a condition, then I had to come back and buy an Xbox for Windows controller. Do NOT buy one of the Amazon-recommended Logitech controllers - they fail regularly and quickly. Spend the extra $10 for the Xbox one. It's reliable, sturdy, and comfortable, plus it's much more of a standard among other games.
The game itself is visually good, with tons of features, but it is taking me forver to learn how to play, as this is my first try with a PC baseball game in about 10 years. I wish there was a beginner/kids level of play where I could just get right into it. Hope this pays off eventually, as I've really waited for a decent PC baseball action game.

Started playing this game, and went through all the options. First thing i noticed is there is no options for auto-fielding, or even assisted fielding, so if you're naturally a bad fielder on baseball games, you will get blown out.
Started playing the game after setting the controls up on my PC Controller. The controls are so complicated it's barely playable. If you want to hit for power, by the time you are able to pull DOWN on the right stick, and then push it back UP to swing, the ball passed you 2 or 3 seconds ago. All you can do is just tap up and hope for contact, or bunt yourself into outs. Got to pitch, finally. Instead of just tapping a button once or twice to pitch, it wants you to hit a button, and then play with your left stick, moving it in various directions. 5 pitches i threw, 4 were wild pitches and one was nearly a home run that i managed to catch at the wall. I've had better pitch control on RBI Baseball (which, for those who don't know, came out around 1987 for NINTENDO!) Went into the Drill Modes. Forget it. It's as bad as actually playing the game, only you're forced to do what the drill wants you to do. I can't wait to turn this game back in. Simply horrible.

This game may or may not be fun. I was very disappointed in the labeling of the box. It says that broadband is needed for internet play but doesn't tell you that without internet play the game becomes nothing more than a demo. You can play an exhibition game only... I didn't even figure out how to change the teams though I didn't spend that much time on it. If it has said on the box what you really needed I wouldn't have bought it. It's bad enough when I buy a cd game in a brick and mortar store ( I actually did in this case, I happen to see it in a local store ) and you have to go online to activate it... at least I can then play the game... wish game companies would realize that not everyone has hi-speed and even the ones that do may not want to have to be connected to the internet just to play a game.

Usually the only games I play are the sports games, so I try to get the latest edition for each year with most sports games. Thankfully, my wife got me this one. It's fun to play, the franchise mode is top notch, and I'm still not tired of it. Well done. Now if the NFL would just loosen up on the rights issue so 2kSports can put out an NFL game...

Finally...after a couple of years of no PC baseball options...we have a contender to fill the shoes of High Heat and MVP Baseball. MLB 2k10 is a solid game.
The only negatives are the fielding (your player basically moves on his own) and the menu navigation (can be confusing). Other than that, a lot of fun. The "My Player" mode is really something, I highly recommend it.

I have been waiting for a decent PC based Baseball game for some time. Well folks, this aint it!. What can I say about this game other than dont waste your time or money. According to the online forums, they found over 50 flaws with the general game itself. Apparently someone got the game to run. It wasnt clear if they were running the PC version, Playstation or X360. For me, the installation went OK, but once you start the game, hope and pray that you get the Main Menu, because it goes right into its Tutorial Game. You can press the Start Button on the controller or the Enter on the keyboard/ESC or the Right 2 on the controller which is supposed to get you the menu. Sometimes it worked, but most times I ended up in this vicious circle. I tried to remap the controller and keyboard keys, but that really didnt solve any problems. I was able to try the batting tutorial, at times I was swinging way to early, other times I was swinging way too late, but most of the time my player just looked at the ball going over the plate and not swinging at all, while pressing the button to swing. Oh, and yelling at the computer doesnt help either. My computer is well within the specs needed to run this game.
