The Best Baseball Game I Have Ever Tried,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: MLB Slugfest 20-04 (Video Game)
When I first got this game, I thought it would be a lot like the 2003 version. Well I was pretty much wrong. There are a lot of different things. You can create your own team, you can play Home Run Derby, you can subsitute for a player, and you can pinch hit. You can also choose how Jim and Tim call the game. They can call the game in the 2003 version, 2004, or in both. You have some more options in this game than you do in the 2003 version. I also thought that some of the music was good too. The players will also use the batting stance they use when they play, but you can experiment with it if you want to. The graphics are great as well. Also a lot of people will say that when they hit a ball, it goes directly at a fielder. These are the reasons why:1. Using power can increase your chances of hitting a homer, but your chances of flying out are greater. Using contact will decrease the possiblity of flying out. The Max Power code is Y 3 times then the control stick left. The Max Batting code is B 3 times then the control stick left. 2. If you don't use turbo when you swing, the ball will not go as far. The Unlimited Turbo code is 4-4-4 Down (b,x,y=press 4 times, then the control stick down). 3. If you swing without pressing the control stick or control pad in a certain direction, you might fly out. For best results, press the control pad of control stick in a certain dirction and hold down the turbo button when you swing. You'll have less of a chance of flying out when doing this.

Hardcore baseball at its best!,
By A Customer
This review is from: MLB Slugfest 20-04 (Video Game)
Where do I begin. This games has a real arcade feel to it. If you are a fan of NFL blitz games you will like it. Baseball is a slow game to most, so the makers of this game went out and added excitement to an already good game. When you slide into base you can take out the players and even hit or kick them. Sometimes they will drop the ball and you can advance a base. The characters are great and very real to life. Great fun.

Extreme Baseball?,

This review is from: MLB Slugfest 20-04 (Video Game)
During the days of Extreme sports, games like baseball, golf and even football are thought as boring to others (thanks a lot Mr. Tony Hawk). It has been a fad to tweak games to be more extreme these days, since NFL Xtreme on the PSX.MLB Slugfest 20-04, is a pretty impressive game. and is not too difficult, but not impossible like I remembered in Triple Play 99. Hitting Home Runs occur often enough to make you happy, but not so often that you expect one every 3-ups. Pitching however, is pretty hard. Striking someone out is difficult if you don't have your special pitch. Fielding is pretty good. The computer tries to do most of the fielding for you, but it is your job to get to the ball in time. There is diving, jumping and trick catches on routine plays. Base running is fun. You are allowed to punch and kick the opponent so he drops the ball before tagging you. Sliding is of course, enabled. The thing that bothers me the most about gameplay is how the computer seems to want to always keep scores close. In the last 2 innings, you will find that the computer (who was down by 6), scores 7 straight runs to tie the game, when it was hitting nothing all night. Clear computer cheating. There is no way to turn this off. The beginner modes aren't exactly easy either. The controls are weird sometimes. When you want to throw to 2nd, the computer will throw to 3rd for you. Highly annoying. The graphics are great and you still get the great feel of baseball. Rent it first, and if you like the way this game is designed, it will be one of your favorite games. The extra movies are funny too (the one on the designers and staff of Midway Games). I thought it was a spectacular game! I played it more than Metroid Prime.
