MLB SlugFest 20-03 offers exaggerated, supercharged baseball action. Featuring real Major League Baseball players, teams, and stadiums, the game puts the emphasis on adrenaline and over-the-top plays. Enormous muscle-bound players take the field and perform incredible defensive plays, including acrobatic diving catches and turbo-powered throws. While at the plate, gamers can dig in and unleash mammoth blasts clear out of the park. The animations are detailed to the point where you can view players on the field chewing gum, talking to one another, and cheering for their teammates. The game sets the tone with an original baseball anthem, "Riot at the Bat Rack," performed by the heavy metal group Dry Kill Logic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its Awesome! June 29, 2002
If your one of those people like i am and get kinda bored with the regular basbeball sims you will really love this game. With its arcade action, high adreneline plays, and mamouth shots from home plate it is also very funny to listen to what the anouncers have to say. So, if you want a high-paced, incredibly fun and long time enjoyable video game this is something that you need to pick up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game...(not realistic) July 15, 2002
A Kid's Review
First of all. I would recommend MLB Slugfest 2003 to anyone...it is a very solid game with great graphics. At times this game can be a little violent...(like all other Midway games) but is still rated E for everyone. The code sysem at the beginning of the game is just like Blitz....u press all the buttons u can possibly press and see if any codes pop up. I gave this game 4 stars because of its lack of realism...i would have givin it 4 and 1/2 because the graphics abnd funness make up for all the problems...but still had to give it 4..so basically heres how I put it:
Graphics 9/10
Gameplay 7/10
Realism 1/10
Funness 10/10
so basically this is a good game...and i hoped u learned stuff from my review...any way... I love this game...and if u buy it...i hope u love it to!

5.0 out of 5 stars BASEBALL WITH AN ATTITUDE July 10, 2002
By A Customer
I normally like to rent games before buying them, but this game just looked to good to pass up.With the reviews I read here and the screen shots I saw,I just had to have it so I went a got myself one today. If you are looking for a realistic simulation type game, keep looking. This game is along the lines of NBA Jam.Fast paced game play and great graphics are a great place to start. The controls are also pretty easy to grasp.A few of the things I love about this game is how the player's feet and bat are on fire when they are maxed out. It's just like how NBA Jam would allow a player to be "On Fire" after making 3 shots in a row.The ability to bean a player and charge the mound is also very cool.I also love the announcing team. The guy who does the voice of Jim Shorts is a Chicago radio personality named Kevin Matthews.I used to listen to his radio show several years ago and nearly fell off of my couch when I heard the Jim Shots character. If you love baseball with an attitude, you must run and get this game.It was money well spent and I hope if you get it you will feel the same!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally, an entertaining baseball game for PS2 August 20, 2002
Fun gameplay, great fighting and cool graphics. The game moves quickly and they do a great job of making a slow game more arcade-like. Its definately fun in multiplayer mode too. This game is better than the other ones that I have played as far as raw entertainment is concerned. My only issues are the following:
1) No homerun derby.
2) Pitches aren't accurate for each pitcher. (Half of them throw knucklers!?!?)
3) All pitchers have the same generic delivery. (It would be cool if Byung Hung threw submarine).
4) No automatic instant replay. This would be especially nice on homeruns.
5) Hard to deal with flyballs. The outfielder is not automatically selected.
6) No player of the game.
7) Dugouts are flat walls that the balls bounce off of.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pros and Cons August 14, 2002
By robert
okay heres the deal. this game in it's own right is very good. heres why. the graphics on this game are spectacular. with an unprecedented amount of detail. the only problem is that the gameplay on it is almost obscene. midway has done an astonishing job of defacing the game of baseball(i kick myself for not realizing that this is the baseball version of blitz). when it comes to pitching. you have almost no control over the pitch. besides what pitch is thrown you have only these options: up, down, left, right, or center. the only plus when your pitching is the option to intetionally bean the batter. which i must say makes for hours of side-splitting comedy. and seing as how the game has a couple dozen different reactions for the batters it never gets old. the ability to beat the stuffing out of the guy next to you is also a plus. this feature is the only reason that i gave this game a 3. so for any blitz or hitz fans out there. this game was dropped from the heavens just for you. for all of you who love a TRUE baseball game. triple play and all-star are definetly your top picks. either way the difficult controls do become a bit easier and the game will grow on you. but i suggest waiting about 2 or three months for the price to drop. not worth the 50 bucks you'll have to shell out for it. and if any of you blitz fans out there don't have this game you shouldn't be wasting your time reading this review you should be buying this game and playing it to your little hearts content.

The fielding is awesome.I like the fireworks after a homerun. Its fun when you can knock people out while you are running the bases. It also has cool cheats to give the players horse heads and other heads. You'll like this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars How Much Better Could a Baseball Game Get? December 4, 2002
A Kid's Review
MLB Slugfest stands up for its name. It's all about long balls. Great graphics, you can see the resemblence in the players faces. All the stadiums, too. You can even start punching a player!!!! Sometimes, you can knock it out of their glove and advance!!! This game is awesome. The only problem is, the balls always go long. It's either a line drive to the outfield, or a home run. Otherwise, go nuts!!!!!!!
