The best baseball game out there!,

this game is awesome! i love baseball take it from me it is an all around great game. cool hits, diving catches, cool fighting!plus you can make your own team and put any player you want to on it. but the best part is, if a player is doing well in a game they can become "on fire". usually it raises all there stats three four or five more up. and makes a high chance of hitting a homer being really fast and strong. i advise every sports gamer to go out and buy this game!good job midway.

I am not a sports fan, I am a gamer... and while I used to play little league back in the day, I haven't actually played a 'baseball' game since the Atari 2600. They've come a long way. Real teams and real stats. Which probably gives a decided advantage to those that are familiar with the stronger players and how to best utilize their statistical advantages. Aside from the regular baseball game of alternating pitching / batting, MLB Slugfest adds some flava to the mix. You occasionally get the ability to throw a 'special pitch' of some physically impossible insane screwball, fireball, bouncer, etc that can usually be counted on for a strike. Small menu additions like "Headlines" that show small mock-ups of the 'sports news' as the season progresses add some minimal flavor. And the ability to punch players on base (occasionally causing a dropped ball) is what this Slugfest franchise is all about. And there is a song by San Diego's own Buckfast Superbee that plays behind one of the menus, and that's very cool. Fun and super easy controls, unlockable fantasy parks and `special teams' make it enjoyable for the 'non-baseball' gamer but with advanced tweaks like scouting new players, trades, pitcher swaps and player substitutions, the couch managers should find enough depth to challenge the whole season.

Just a great game,

Out of all the baseball games I've played, this one was definitely the best. It had okay graphics, nothing to special, but the fighting twist to the game was really fun. If you enjoy baseball then this is the game for you, and it is definitely worth the money. So I suggest you go out and this game.

Although it is fun to smack other people while baserunning, charging the mound, hard tagging runners, and intentionally beaning batters, it starts to get a little boring. Now dont get me wrong, it is a fun game, but it does lack a little in the game play. Other than that, it is a great game with good graphics and sound. It just could have used a little improvement thats why it recieved four stars instead of five. It is a great way to releive stress. This is a sports game with a little fighting twist to it so if you like fighting games and sports games, this is the game for you.

Blitz for Baseball,

This review is from: MLB Slugfest 2004 (Video Game)
Slugfest is a cool game. Even though I thought it was a bit overrated and advertised a bit too much. It's sort of like NFL Blitz except in baseball. However, it has a lot less features in terms of beating people. Most of the hitting takes place when you just constantly punch the baserunner for fun while he's standing on base. You can kick and punch a fielder if he's trying to tag you out, but if you don't time it right, it doesn't work and you're out. It would've been more fun if you could hit people with the bats and peg them with the balls and stuff.Despite it's setbacks Slugfest 2004 has some added features from 2003, like a "Special Pitch" feature and new cheats to make the game more fun. Once again it has sexy girls on the loading screens, except one of them's new. The best part about this game though, in my opinion, is the commentary. Jimmy and Tim are back again with whole new lines to crack you up. My final verdict is:

MLB Crapfest,

This was the worst baseball game I have ever played. I put the difficulty level on "Trainee" and it played like it was on allstar mode. It also wasn't easy to pitch were I wanted to. I was unable to catch the ball in the air which the computer seemed to do with great ease. Stay as far away from this game as possible, it only causes frustration and isn't worth the rental fee or wasted time.

Even though the cover looks cool, do not by this game. On rookie level the other team, good or bad, gets the runs back that you got. I had a 7-0 lead and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays came back with a couple of home runs even though I was pitching curveballs low and in. It is also unrealistic. Everybody gets to slide tackle and stiff-arm the infield, and you get to beam batters intentionally. Instead, rent it first and see if you like it. I dought you will.
