They are very well made.

It shouldn't affect the tools function, but yet another blemish that shows this isn't a professional or real high quality set.

If you're looking for a cheap set of forstner bits, that's what you'll get.

These bits are almost well made - up until the part where they're supposed to sharpen them at the factory. They aren't. The teeth are shaped, but not sharp. If you use them as-is, they will burn through the wood, but do not produce actual shavings or a clean cut. If you take a few minutes to hand sharpen the bit you want to use, it then does a decent job.

It's really a case of "you get what you pay for" - what do you expect for $30?

This set includes a lot of popular forstner bit sizes with a handy wooden case to keep them in. I store mine near my drill press since I use them fairly often. They are not as well made as other sets that cost several times more money, but as others have said, what do you expect for 30 dollars? I have no issues using a Delta benchtop drill press and boring through 5/4 maple stock with little to no burning at all. Just have to clear the chips a few times.

Its another solid set by MLCS. Not for the fine craftsman looking for a nearly flawless cut, but great for hogging out holes with a decent quality cut. I would buy it again in a heart beat.

I'm a weekend woodworker and would classify myself just above the average woodworker. I bought this set looking to get a good set of Forstner bits that I can also use for later projects. I'll be buying a higher-quality set for anything that requires real attention to detail...

The bits arrived on time, but after opening and inspecting them, they are not of a real high quality. There were obvious metal burrs that had not been filed/ground off. If you've ever done any metal work, it looked like the rough tool right from the making before its sent off for sanding and polish to remove any rough edges. There was also a chip on the cutting edge of the vertical part of one bit. Looked like it had been chipped before they painted it. It shouldn't affect the tools function, but yet another blemish that shows this isn't a professional or real high quality set.

Each of the bits also is a little on the dull side. Now, I was putting in a recessed hole in some MDF, which is kinda hard stuff, and the bits did an alright job of cutting through it, but it took a bit using a 1" bit. Feeling the cutting edge of the bits, they have more of a rough sharpened edge on them. You'll need to sharpen each one for a good cut.

Bottom line: Get this if you need some forstner bits and don't need to worry about the quality of the cut due to the bits coming dull and possibly some burrs on the edges which may or may not affect your work. I lucked out with where the burrs were. And you can obviously file any off. But I'm of the opinion that you should be able to purchase a tool and use it as is -without any touching up.

If you are looking for a more quality set, look elsewhere!

I read a few reviews before ordering these, and I felt I had been properly warned: these are not excellent bits, but they're OK for occasional use.

Well, they're not really even that good.

They're simply not sharp. And when I say not sharp, I mean it takes a couple of MINUTES to drill a 1/2-inch hole through an inch-thick piece of oak. Did I say drill? I meant burn.

I'm a casual woodworker, so I have modest needs and my expectations were low. I'm in no rush. But... these things are abysmal. I would have been smarter to look for a set with half as many bits, twice as sharp as these.

I have to agree with some of the other reviewers. These not not very well made. Most of the bits have nicks and/or burrs on them. You need to hand clean and sharpen these before you can use them. If you are looking for a range of bits for a one time use then this will be an affordable option. If you are looking for some bits that will be used regularly then you should rather buy high quality versions of the bits you need. Even the box is a throw away item. The lid did not align on my set and none of the bits fit in their proper places in the box.

This set includes most of the bit sizes you will ever need and then some. The problem is, as others have mentioned, some of the bits are very dull. The first one I used was soooo dull it took 20 or so plunges to get through a 3/4 inch pine board. Smoke and burning wood were evident. Too bad, otherwise would have given 5 stars due to the great price and sizes included.

For the price, this is a good set to have around if you only use the once in a while. It fit the needs I have. If you use them everyday, then move up to the next level of quality. Fast Ship.

Good set. Each bit is sharp and made out of high speed steel. High speed still is about 1/3rd the hardness of carbide, and cannot be sharpened to the same extent. Carbide sets start at about $150. I got this set for $20. I don't do woodworking for a living, if I did I wouldn't expect high speed steel to be as good as carbide.

Max RPM's on most of the bits is around 6,000. So they plenty of strength for a drill. Don't put these on a router.

Made in China.

Hope that helps.
