The title is somewhat misleading, as only three of the speeches feature King, while the last is a speech by Robert Kennedy following King's assassination. There are only four speeches total in this volume, so one hopes there will be more to come. At least the celebrated "I Have a Dream" speech of 1963 is featured in its entirety. The speech still gives me the chills after all these years and remains the standard by which all speeches should be judged. It is the greatest speech of the 20th century, and for anybody to include it complete deserves at least three stars for including it.

This is an excellent collection of King Speeches. It begins with the 1963 Detroit Speech, where "I Have a Dream" was first heard. This is filled with raw, barbed humor that most people don't presently associate with Dr. King. Next is the March on Washington Speech, which has the better knonw version of "I Have a Dream". Much of that is quite stiff before he gets to the Dream segement. Then we have the "Mountaintop" speech of 1968, which is all the more remarkable when you consider this was done without any notes. It conclues rather fittingly with Bobby Kennedy's eulogy of Dr. King, which is made all the more poignant since Bobby Kennedy was also killed just a few weeks later. Overall great listening and great history.

I believe an extra bit was tacked on to the end of the Been to the Mountaintop final discourse, ending not now at Mine Eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord, but with the whole Free at last closing from the other speeches. this kind of breaks things up for me

I have this on constant rotation out here in the shack and what a relief it it is, releasing tears long held pent up, long, too long, unknown, forgotten, now freed. I play this and wonder how discourse in our nation has changed frmo this laden with serious intent to the frivolous stuff that sells on our commercial and public media. What a joy it is and a sorrow to hear in this one CD the true art of public elocution, the slow rise in the speech, the allusions, the asides, the serious intent, and the truth.

What a relief and a recovery it is to hear in these speeches praised true morality and calling forth to live truly morally integrally, as we learn once again the meaning and purpose and practice of nonviolence, from its psychology and spirituality through its putting into practice. We never hear of nonviolence anymore, outside of the Reverend Father John Dear SJ, and what a reinforcing joy it is to hear it proclaimed and preached here in these speeches.

Here we also hear once more of such now unheard of things as truly practicing Love, compassion, mercy, forgiveness, forbearance, wisdom, and peace, in words pronounced carefully by this powerfully holy preacher.

A joy and a sorrow to hear this collection. I believe there are editings unclear in its presentation, including the addendum to the courageous Mountaintop declaration delivered the evening before his martyrdom. The packaging is also quite illegible, and curt.

This was a must have because of the raw and informative information that should be known to everyone of all ages. My nephew along with one of his friends had the pleasure two years ago to learn and recite the "I have a Dream" speech. Steven, recited the speech in Georgia and his friend got to recite the speech here in South Carolina during Marting Luther King Day. I was glad that I was part of the reason, for them wanting to recite the speech, by giving them both educational material that they can both expand on later in life. Dr. King was a strong man that we are all still struggling for by putting forth in the action of cause. A Change is Going to Come to each and everyone of us as we prosper to move forward in Life. I want to thank Dr. King for paving the way......
