I have used Carlon in the past, and they are OK, but this one is a much better design. The horizontal/vertical hinges are designed as either/or in use, whereas the Carlon latches both at once which makes them harder to open. The Taymac seemed easier to assemble with the outlet and box too. I also like the bigger line knock outs. I'll use these from now on. This is not the first time I have found big name Carlon to be inferior to the competitors.

This is an excellent product & serves it's purpose well. I needed to cover a GFC outlet that tripped almost every time when it rained and the wind was blowing. It looks great and works well. I couldn't ask more of it.

Installed this over the outlet on the back side of my house that's built into the siding. The foam backing looked like it would do the trick, but since the receptacle it was covering was not very flush to the siding, i decided to add an extra layer of protection and just spread a bead of silicone along the border. Now i'm super confident there won't be any dripping water behind the receptacle, and the front side works great! We've had some torrential down pours since i've installed it, with no hint of water going up to the plugs.

I used this to replace a standard metal outdoor cover with spring-loaded outlet lids, which isn't weatherproof while in use. The metal cover comes off with one center screw, leaving a plain old normal duplex outlet just like indoors. Loosen the top and bottom mounting screws, slide this replacement cover on with keyhole slots and tighten back down; total time maybe 5 minutes.

It's a very nice outdoor cover. You may need to find your own screws depending on the conditions & where you intend to place this cover.
I think the thin foam seal it comes with may not be great for all conditions so you might also need some sealant for a better seal.

I purchased this item to be able to use with extension cords. I tried plugging in an LED night light for some extra light. It worked out great. The LED night light can be plugged in and the door shut allowing for light to pass through the clear plastic without concern moisture causing damage. Great quality and easy to assemble.

I had trouble finding this outlet cover in any of the retail stores near me this is just what we were looking for. Met out local building codes and is good quality. Very Fast shipping

The unit looks to be well-constructed, except for one minor thing: the single closing latch on the cover does not align properly with the base, resulting in a cover that does not stay closed, completely defeating the purpose of this product. I have tied it closed with string. Even if the latch did align properly, it should have 2 latch points. This product is "made in the USA", apparently not a indicator of quality. Next time I'll try Carlon.

I gave this a four star only because the instructions were not easy to follow. I ended up just doing what was logical and using common sense to make it work for me. But so far it has worked great for outdoors to keep the outlet dry.

we have an outdoor drainage pit with a sump pump plugged into a float plug and couldn't find an outlet cover to enclose the "double plug". this one fit the need and was easy installation, good quality, so far we are very pleased.
