Exelent book,

This review is from: MMPI-2: An Interpretive Manual (2nd Edition) (Hardcover)
This is the best book I have read regarding the MMPI-2. It gives in depth coverage of almost all known scales available for the MMPI-2, and has all you need to learn to use the test. Codetypes are well explained, and presented in a systematic fashion. There are lots of infomration about codetypes which are useful in the case of juding the deegre to which the patient fits the particular codetype description. The book also includes several validityscales which are very usable to attain an in depth understanding of the response pattern of the test subject.
The only disadvantages with this book is that the subject index is not too good and, some sections are hard to read. The last disadvantage I can tell, is that there sould have been explanations of three point codetypes, which I can not find in this book. However all these disadvantages are minor compared to that of other books about the MMPI-2!

A five-star text, but Graham's text is better for interpreting MMPI-2 profiles,

This review is from: MMPI-2: An Interpretive Manual (2nd Edition) (Hardcover)
If you want a very technical manual that is full of any and all information that you could ever hope for regarding the MMPI-2, this is the book for you. I mean, it has so much information, everything you'd want to know about the MMPI. I really mean it when I say that this is an excellent text for learning ABOUT the MMPI-2 and its scales. However, If you're looking for a manual to aid in interpreting MMPI-2 profiles I would go with the Graham text MMPI-2: Assessing Personality and Psychopathology
While the Graham text is almost just as good as Greene's text for learning ABOUT the MMPI-2 and it's scales (in some respects it's better because the language is not so technical), it is definately better organized than Greene's text for profile interpretation (the information presented in the Graham text itself is also more conducive to profile interpretation). Even though our assessment class used Greene's text, those of us who have it used Graham's text whenever we were given profiles to interpret in class or when we needed to interpret MMPI profiles in the clinic; it really is that much easier to use for this purpose. In short, you come out a winner whether you buy Graham's text or Greene's text; they're both great books (I have both and I intend to keep both). Just keep in mind that one is better suited for learning ABOUT the MMPI than the other (Greene's; but not by much) and that one is better suited for interpreting the MMPI-2 than the other (Graham's; much better). I hope you all found this helpful. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions that my review didn't cover!

This review is from: MMPI-2: An Interpretive Manual (2nd Edition) (Hardcover)
The text is very technical and difficult to follow if you have no background in MMPI. I'm using the text for a graduate course, and even the instructor acknowledged it's difficulty. If you use it as a beginner, try to find other sources to help. Overall, it has a lot of good information.

difficult reading, but a must have for the MMPI,

This book is not one you would ordinarily read cover-to-cover, but it is a must have for anyone who is using the MMPI. Greene is a MMPI genius and he knows the MMPI like no one else. I'm using his book more as a reference, and I'm using other books such as Butcher's to actually learn the MMPI.
