I love this serger! A terrific value with all of the extras included. It's important to go through every stitch, make a sample and label each stitch and record the thread tensions. These samples are invaluable in learning the machine properly and be sure to use different colored thread so that it is easier to decide what thread/needle to adjust. Threading gets easier with practice. My only complaint is the written manual that comes with the machine. It should be organized by type of stitch. For example, for a cover stitch the manual should detail all of the changes that are needed for the machine. Instead it shows: the threading, then on other pages it shows how to move the cutting knife, then on other pages it shows how to add the cover stitch plate, etc. I made my own "cheat sheet" for the cover stitch which has notes on where to find the threading information, tension information, cutting knife information, cover stitch plate information, how to start the cover stitching, how to end the cover stitching, etc. And ALWAYS try a test sample with your actual scrap piece of material (or a similar type of material)!!

11/16/13:CORRECTION regarding the warranty period: The warranty is not for one year ( as I had incorrectly stated in my earlier review) but for TWO years on motors , light assembly, wiring, switches, circuit boards and speed control.
A Five year warranty is for "all other parts" however this excludes "consumable parts" such as loopers, feed dogs, knife blades, bulbs, lamps and belts.

The Mo735 is my 2nd Juki serger and i bought this for the flatlock feature.
My other Juki is a 654de and has continued to work really well since 2011.

The MO735 worked nicely with fabulous neat seams and no trouble and then last week, a little over a year after the purchase the Upper Looper broke off!

There was no indication that anything was wrong and the seam was for a layer of stretch jersey and Lycra. The fabrics i sew are jersey's, velvets and chiffons; nothing thick that could put the machine at risk.

My machine was purchased from Allbrands.com who also provided me with extra warranty that the insurance company would not honor. Allbrands told me they could not help either and also told me that the $150 to have the upper looper replaced was quite reasonable!

The flatlock is not used much because it's a bit tricky to switch and i mainly used this for the overlock feature.

On second day of use - and by that I mean my second day of trying to thread for the cover stitch a metal thread guide for the chain stitch fell off

The thread for the coverstitch kept snapping at the point where the thread comes back in through the door.

This is my 5th serger and second coverstitch machine . I am very adept at threading ,but this machine stumped me. Even with the downloaded instructors manual I never could produce a proper looking cover stitch. After 8 hrs or frustration I packed it up and sent it back

Have to give amazon a 5 star rating for the return procedure though . Ups picked up the juki within 24 hours of my return request. Now that's impressive and my money was credited about 2-3 days afterwards .

I love love love thismachine. It is my first serger and intuitive to thread, but there were a couple tricks not emphasized in the manual. I had an experienced serger seamstress give me a lesson, totally worth it. She told me what types of things make the serger crash (cheap or overly fuzzy thread). Buy the really long handled tweezers, makes threading a snap. The tote was high quality with reinforced seams. The DVD and helping handbook were missing. I called SewVacDirect and they were incredibly helpful. They sent me the missing items, then emailed me a threading .pdf file. It was detailed, in color, showed threading for every type of stitch the machine does as well as the needle positions. I highly recommend the deal and vendor.

I have never used a serger, so I have nothing to compare this to. Having said that, I am loving this machine. So far I have used it for 3 & 4 thread overlock, 3 thread flat lock & 3 thread narrow rolled hem. Super easy! I just finished making 6 dinner napkins in under 30 minutes! For me that is lightening fast. It is so easy to thread that I freely change configurations without even thinking about it. My only regret is that I didn't buy one of these earlier. I ignored the negative reviews and plundered ahead. The only knit picky thing I can come up with is the trash bin doesn't stay fastened. I don't use it anyway, so it doesn't bother me at all. I can't wait to try the cover stitch. I will post an update when I do. I highly recommend this machine for beginners and pros alike. I can't imagine anyone not liking this fast, quiet little workhorse. Don't pay twice as much for the Bernina version. The LCD screen just doesn't double it's value. It's also a little easier to thread than the Bernina 1300. I had to help a friend with hers. I love love love this Juki!
