What I like about the bag...
The bag is put together well, though the material feels a bit thin. There are plenty of storage, and carry options. The bag is padded well,(I'd like more padding at he muzzle end) I think it will provide enough protection. The handles and straps are secured to the bag well, I worried about this with the weight of the rifles I would will be carring in it. My Savage 10 FCP, with the McMillan A5 stock is a heavy rifle, my model 12 has about 10 lbs of lead added to the stock. The straps and handles support the weight just fine with either, so far. The zippers are well made and move easy, I think they will last. The bag is very long, I didn't think my 12fv with a Choate tac stock and a 26" barrel would fit this bag, but it did with no real issues. It's a standard drag bag design, which is a good thing. My issues... The bag is made of PVC coated "material" not nylon; let's hope that doesn't become an issue. I was looking for a soft rifle case, not so much a drag bag. I'm not going to field the bag, so I can live with it. I went with a drag bag for the appearance and storage options...If I were going to field this as an actual "Drag Bag" I would go with something made from tactical nylon (like Blackhawk or LBT) not PVC coated material, and not NcSTAR. The bag is made by NcSTAR (the other gear I've bought from them is hit or miss...actually, more miss) but that is not mentioned in the description or title. The seller knows who makes the bag, why not put that in the description, why do I need to discover this when I get the bag? I don't like this omission because the manufacturer's name is an important detail in a buyer's decision. It also is important when shopping for the best price. I looked at NcSTAR bags during my research but decided against them because of the fact they aren't made of nylon, but what NcSTAR calls PVC coated "material" (they don't say what material that is). I also have a problem with the bag being described as MOLLE. There are a few single straps on the side bags, but hardly enough to secure MOLLE bags to, unless you're comfortable with a loose fit. My review isn't negative, but of course I won't be posting another in 6 months if the material doesn't hold up. I wouldn't tell anyone NOT to buy this bag, but I don't refer people to NcSTAR products because of the issues I have had with them in the past.

I would definitely recommend this bag, used it during sniper school and it worked great. I ended up dragging this bag over rocks, cactus, through cedar brush, etc and it held up fine. Now it will get tested over seas. So far a great investment.

I took this drag bag to a SWAT sniper course and it held up very well. For the price you can't get a better bag.

Decent Bag at a Great Value,
This review is from: MOLLE Sniper Drag Bag Rifle Gun Case--TAN (Misc.)
I received the bag about 4 days ago(mine is in ACU patern) and have loaded my gear in it. However, I have not taken it up to the field so the review is based on first impressions. During my initial inspection I found the brand label, NcStar. The features of this bag are great. Back pack straps are good and even though they are not detachable they tuck nicely in a dedicated compartment. Storage is plentiful; the outside has 4 roomy pockets, three of which have securing straps inside. So far I have placed 2 bipods, spotting scope, tripod, small cleaning kit, and log book with room to spare. The interior is well padded with securing straps on both sides. The straps although did not match up to the best tie down spots on my Remington 700 SPS varmint. The padding seemed a little heavy at the zippers, which is better protection a weak spot, but make she zipper a little difficult to use smoothly. The interior accessory pocket is about right size for a box of .308 ammo. Another great feature is the large amount webbing loops, which I laced with 550 cord be able to cinch down other gear to the bag. The web loops also allows for plenty of places to attach ghille garnish.
I did notice some quality issues though. Zippers do seem heavy duty and have dual pulls, however 1 pull was missing from its slider, which was easily replaced from some spares I had on hand. Also, some of the stitching holding the Pal Webbing is weak. I'll have to be cautious adding Molle pouches. Service was a expected. Shipping was fine, about a week (a bit high though). I never contacted GRG in regards to the zipper, so I can't comment on their customer service. In conclusion the bag seems to be a good value. I the minor issues I encountered is easily overlooked by the price I paid($50+S&H). The price is best I could find other retailers are selling the same NcStar bag between $50-$95. There are likely better bags out there like Voo-do Tactical's Ultimate sniper drag bag and similar from Eagle and BlackHawk, but the cost is as high as 5-7 times the cost of this bag.

I got this bag yesterday. I must say, it feels very solid and the carry options are great. I put my M1A SOCOM 2 and my M77 Hawkeye Tactical in the case and it was a natural fit. Multiple pockets on the exterior are going to make for easier trips to the range. The only reason I didn't give the bag a 5 star rating is the zippers. They feel a little weak. We'll see over time. I hope this helps any potential buyers.

I picked this up because I wanted an unobtrusive, lightweight means of carrying two rifles to the range and back. Now I've been using this bag for a couple of weeks, and really couldn't be happier.
First of all, as long as nobody thinks too hard about it, the tan-colored drag bag could pass for a guitar case. When you live in a city with lots of neighbors, it's nice not to draw a lot of attention every time you want to go shooting. Second, I can easily fit two long, heavy, scoped target rifles into the bag. I've had a hard time finding a case that will comfortably house one of them, let alone both. There are also loads of pockets for ammunition or whatever else you may need, and several different carrying options (shoulder sling, hand grip, backpack straps). Finally, the construction seems to be very solid, and worthy of the thoughtful design. For $50 and shipping, I'd say that this is not only the best deal I've seen on a case, but the best deal I've seen on any shooting accessory so far. ----- Addendum: I noticed that the price for this bag has tripled since I bought it. It's a very good bag, but there may be options that are as good or better at the $150 price point. |
