5.0 out of 5 stars Cash is king
I own a black version of this wallet and I like it because it has a big coin compartment, a convenient ID window, and ample space for banknotes (and business checks) and receipts. The number of credit card slots is kept to a minimum (3) which is perfect for a check card, a business credit card and a personal credit card.

1.0 out of 5 stars 1 year later- completely useless
I bought this for my husband because we live abroad and he needed to be able to carry coin currency with him. When it first arrived we were both happy with how it looked and how useful it was. Now, one year later the coin pocket is useless because material used in the expansion part of the coin purse has fallen apart (so coins fall out) and id/ credit card section doesn't...

I own a black version of this wallet and I like it because it has a big coin compartment, a convenient ID window, and ample space for banknotes (and business checks) and receipts. The number of credit card slots is kept to a minimum (3) which is perfect for a check card, a business credit card and a personal credit card.

I like to pay cash, flash my ID when I go to a bar, and actually use the change I get instead of collecting it in a big jar. I used to have a smaller wallet and was afraid that this would not fit in my front pocket. It turns out that this is actually a bit slimmer and its larger dimension is still short enough to comfortably fit in a low-rise jeans front pocket.

The wallet is really handmade in Italy and looks and smells great. Even comes with the warranty directly from the Italian artisans.

This is definitely not for those who carry and regularly use lots of credit cards.

4.0 out of 5 stars classic leather and hip lining, January 15, 2007
By
i ordered this wallet for a christmas gift. i was very happy when i first looked it over. the lining is throughout the whole wallet, no nook and cranny unturned. the leather is soft and a beautiful color. the gift was for a young man (26 years old, new yorker) with a unique yet classic style. he really loved it. however the downside was its SIZE. it is ulta thin but very wide. i recommend wearing it in a jacket pocket.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great wallet!, December 12, 2005
I just recently got this wallet, and I just love it. Very stylish, yet functional. Looks great, and no one I know owns a wallet that looks like it. The coin compartment is a big plus, because I don't like having loose change jangling around in my pocket. The price is pretty good too; I've seen comparable items (leather wallets handmade in Italy) at department stores for a helluva lot more.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best wallet I have ever owned, November 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have owned probably 12 wallets in my lifetime. When I was younger I opted for a wallet that could hold every card I own and it was always uncomfortably thick.

When I lived in Germany in 1992 I was introduced to wallets with coin pockets as just about every wallet had one. I bought a version of these that could hold every card I own, plus coins, and the wallet got even thicker as it filled up with useless pfennigs and other small denomination German coins. Having instant access to a few coins I found to be very handy, however, and this is the only style wallet I have owned since. The only problem was I could not find them in stores in the United States and I do not travel to Europe very frequently.

As I matured I realized that I only use about 3 or 4 cards in my wallet, so I don't need to fill the thing like it's a purse. When it was time for a new wallet I was looking for a thinner wallet with a coin pocket and came across this one. I have had it for about 18 months now and really like the smaller profile. I just have one credit card, an atm card, license and a few business cards. It cannot hold much more than this.

The cards point inward toward the fold, so if they somehow fall out (not a problem so far) they can't go far. If I get too many coins filling the coin pocket I usually drop some in a donation jar at a checkout. The low profile is great, and the leather is wearing well. The stitching is not fraying yet as it did on my other wallets. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wallet with coin pocket, September 20, 2010

This review is from: MONETA - Men's Italian Leather Wallet with Coin Compartment (Apparel)
If you're looking for a slim wallet that also has a change pocket, this is perfect. I don't carry a lot of credit cards or pictures in my wallet, so this meets my needs. I couldn't find any men's wallets with a change pocket in stores. The dimensions are slightly larger than what I am used to, but it still fits in my pocket and it's surprisingly thin and durable. The cost was more than I am used to paying for a wallet, but so far I'm glad I bought this one. It was nice to read the reviews and see that there are other men who don't like carrying change in their pockets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great and improving... hard to find classy men's wallet w/change compartment, February 1, 2009

The wallet is beautiful. Classy. And it's slippery. It has improved over the past month and my husband (I bought it as a Christmas gift for him) says he expects it to continue to improve in that regard. Usually leather has some suppleness that allows for finger grabs ... or has a rough enough texture for the same grabability. This wallet is sleek and slippery. And beautiful AND has a very nice and useful coin compartment which is so hard to find in American-designed & made wallets these days. My husband notes the wallet is slightly larger than others ... and he doesn't mind, it fits in his pants pocket just fine.

Vendor service was excellent. Delivery was fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great wallet for foreign and domestic use, September 14, 2011

I bought this wallet deliberately because it holds larger currency notes and has a change pocket. Want a men's wallet in the United States large enough to hold euros or pounds sterling, and has a coin compartment? Forget it: only women's wallets are like that, here. For a men's wallet with those two attributes, one must go to Europe. Yes, it was quite expensive--more than I have ever spent on a wallet before--but well worth the price.

The only drawback is that there are three card slots, plus a forth with a clear plastic window (for a driver's license or some such I.D.); there is no plastic insert to hold more of them than that. You can still stick extra cards in the side pockets under the coin pouch and the card slots, however. Plus, I do not carry too many cards besides my license and my debit card, so that's really not a problem for me. It is, however, not intended for people who carry their wallets in their back pants pockets; this is a front-pocket wallet only.

As stated, the double currency pockets can hold both 50 pound and 500 euro notes (I checked this on the Bank of England and ECB websites). I do not know what I would be doing carrying around 500 euros, but just in case, I would be prepared. Obviously, the smaller American dollars fit in it with plenty of room to spare. I actually managed to get one, very large deposit slip in the back pocket. One could easily travel with it, with traveler's checks in the back pocket and cash in the front. I once managed to fit $7 in quarters in the coin pouch without too much of a bulge, or having them fall out of it. If I went to a eurozone country, or the U.K., where they both have 8 different denominations of coins (whereas the U.S. has only pennies, nickles, dimes and quarters) my change would fit just fine there, too.

So whether you're using it to hold American dollars, euros, pounds sterling and/or largish traveler's checks, this is the perfect wallet to have. Yes, $80 is expensive for a wallet, but just try finding one like this in the United States, or on an American website (impossible!)
