4.0 out of 5 stars Polishing Aluminum
I bought the PowerCone to restore my polished aluminum wheels. The rims were oxidized more than the PowerCone could handle. It is very flexible and will work well on keeping polished aluminum looking good but won't do much for oxidation. My polished rims needed more pressure to bring them back and the foam construction of the cone wasn't up to the task. I used a...

I used this product about an hour ago. The foam is much to soft and will not reach the areas it should. It does not polish well at all. Grab your rags, polish, tin foil, and a can of elbow grease, do it by hand and you will be a lot happier.

I used a multiple pc. cotton buffing kit with various shapes and diameters to get the job done but now that the shine is back I plan to use the PowerCone to keep them looking good.Mothers PowerCone Polishing Tool

2.0 out of 5 stars I keep hoping these things work, April 29, 2009

I keep buying Mothers polishing tools hoping they will work on my wheels. This one will go the pile of others that did not function as expected. Like the Who, won't get fooled again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powercone Performed Well, February 27, 2010

I have the Mothers powerball and powerball mini. The powercone is similar in construction, but the unique shape allows access to tight spots. I have used a variety of buffs on my alloy wheels with varying levels of success. The powercone did an an excellent job and I recommend it without hesitation!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth my $15, January 6, 2012
This review is from: Mothers PowerCone Polishing Tool (Automotive)
I feel like everyone else on here who couldn't get the results they wanted were either doing it wrong or didn't try multiple sweeps with the Powercone. I bought this for my 2001 Mustang with chrome FR500 wheels (deep dish in the back)- these are very difficult to detail as there are numerous crevices and deep slots of large pieces of metal. I wasn't disappointed. My wheels had already been corroded, so I was accepting of that. The Powercone took what used to be a four-hour job and cut it down to just under an hour. In a nutshell:

Pros: Cut labor time by 75%, quick, easy to use, shape makes it easy to reach difficult spots

Cons: Seems to lose a little effectiveness after a few hours of use, needs some sort of care instructions for the tool, still had a lot of work to do to get wheels looking nice

All in all, it was well worth the $15 I spent at Auto Zone. Will get another when this one goes bad.

First time this thing worked great! It tends to fall apart after that. Used it three times now and nothing is left!

5.0 out of 5 stars PowerCone Polishing Tool, May 20, 2010

The PowerCone is another product like the PowerBall. They both work really well for polishing wheels. They recommend using a cordless drill to run both of these tools. I found better results, using a 1/2 in. corded drill. According to the documentation on the package, the bigger drill should not be used, I guess the thinking is the tool will not hold together as well. The 1/2 drill operates faster, but had no problems with the tools. The product itself did what it was advertised to do. The cone shape allows you to get into tight corners of the wheel. I have all 3 of the PowerBall products, and they all work well for what they were designed to do.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dont waste your money, July 16, 2011
This review is from: Mothers PowerCone Polishing Tool (Automotive)
You would like to think it would work really well but it really doesn't. I bought it for my spoked lexus wheels and I still had to do it by hand after. Used once and now its for sale.....any takers?

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Great on Clear Coated Wheels Too!, June 14, 2009

This review is from: Mothers PowerCone Polishing Tool (Automotive)
While this product is intended for metal polishing, using it with the proper polishes and wax on clear-coated alloy wheels yields awesome results. The once weathered wheels on my Dodge Ram 2500 diesel pickup are now "as-new" and consistently fetch compliments.

Repeat after me ... It aint cool if your chrome don't shine!

I found it at Wal-mart the week after i purchased this...not worth going thru the hassle and wait of ordering it online if there is not a price benefit. Otherwise a great product.
