4.0 out of 5 stars Sexy New Phone, December 27, 2006
This review is from: MOTOROLA RAZR V3r CINGULAR AT&T CELL PHONE (Wireless Phone)
I switched to Cingular for better service in my area and got this new phone at a local retailer. It's a great phone with a sexy look, but trying to figure out how to use the MP3 player was a chore! After reading the manual which was useless when it comes to explaining how to download music and calling Motorola directly, I finally figured it out after messing with the phone and my computer for nearly an entire day. I searched the web and couldn't find help anywhere. Note that this phone will not work with iTunes and only accepts MP3 files.

Some things to note. In your box, you only get the phone and a travel charger. You will need to purchase the following separately (which increases the costs... another reason for the four stars):
* Ear Bud or Bluetooth ear piece
* Headphones to listen to your music. (You can still listen to music without the headphones, but it plays it on a speaker phone)
* USB cable to connect your phone to the computer so you can transfer music. NOTE: at the retailer I purchases this phone from, they told me that to use the MP3 player, I needed to purchase the $50+ "Motorola Phone Tools". Not true. All you need is the USB cable.
* Memory card to hold additional music/pictures. (I only got the 512 MB and have enough room for all)

To begin downloading music, you don't need to purchase any additional software as I've seen posted on other sites. Simply connect the USB cable to your computer and phone. Grab the MP3 files from your computer and just drag it to the external drive which is in your phone. That's it. When you unplug your phone, go to the MP3 player which is in the Games section. It took a while for the MP3 player to update once I downloaded all my songs, but after they were loaded, my MP3 player works like a charm.

It's very convenient to not have to carry around my iPod and a cell phone when I travel. I've got everything I need in my new RAZR. Good job Motorola!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Phone, December 10, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: MOTOROLA RAZR V3r CINGULAR AT&T CELL PHONE (Wireless Phone)
Pros=
-MP3 player has no song limit like on the RAZR V3i, ROKR E1 and SLVR
-Classic Razr style
-Camera has many diffrent lighting functions
-3D games capabilities
-Great Call Quality
Cons=
-MP3 player has an annoying load time
-camera pictures are easily blurred
-Paint on outside is easily scratched.

Bottom Line=
A great phone for anyone who loves style, the color red, or music. Allthough the MP3 player does not have iTunes ease of use, it makes up for it by not having that annoying 100 song limit on the SLVR, ROCR E1 and RAZR V3i. The camera is not the best but takes decent pictures for a phone camera. It is also worth noteing that the phone does not have a standard headphone jack so you either have to buy their headphones or use Bluetooth. All and all a great phone for any teenager or pre teen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Motorola RAZR V3r Red Phone (Cingular), January 7, 2007
This review is from: MOTOROLA RAZR V3r CINGULAR AT&T CELL PHONE (Wireless Phone)
This Motorola is a great looking phone and works very well. About six months ago, I upgraded my old Motorola to the LG500. The LG got very poor reception when I was at home and I realized I never had that problem before with my Motorola. So I went out and bought this RAZR V3r and my reception problems all went away. I'll stick with Motorola from now on. Overall, my observations are:

1) Great looking phone and easy to use.
2) Reception works great for me, but I'm sure it all depends on your location.
3) The phone only comes with a travel charger. If you want to use any of the features, you will likely need to buy the accessories.
4) This version of the RAZR accepts a MicroSD card, so you can significantly increase your storage at minimal cost.
5) The battery life is excellent. I get almost a whole week of use without having to charge. My previous phone, the LG, only lasted about 2.5 days. Please note that my results are primarily due to little use and mostly standby time, it's still much better than the LG!
6) Some female friends commented that they don't like the keypad, although they could not say specifically why. I have no problems with it.

Good luck to you whatever you decide!!

I thought I would love this phone, but I was so disappointed! Every time I made calls, people would complain that I was cutting out. When I had the speakerphone on, I could hear the other person perfectly clearly. But all I could hear them saying was "Hello? Hello? Are you still there?" They could not hear me at all.

I actually exchanged the phone for another one of the same, with the same results. So now I have washed my hands of it.

Let me add that my previous phone, the Motorola V551, had none of these problems. Call quality and speakerphone were great. I don't even want to comment on all the features such as the phone and MP3 player. If the phone doesn't work, who cares? I think that Motorola is concentrating too hard on bells and whistles and a slick design, and ignoring the basics.

2.0 out of 5 stars warning - MP3 player is NOT "built in"!, December 16, 2006
By
This review is from: MOTOROLA RAZR V3r CINGULAR AT&T CELL PHONE (Wireless Phone)
The point of this phone's creation was to replace the Itunes with a basic MP3 player. Without the MP3 player, it's just a basic RAZR. I just returned my V3R to the place I bought it, after hours on the phone with Cingular and Motorola, trying to find out how to access the 12MB storage that supposedly holds about 50 songs.
What I was eventually told was that you MUST buy a MicroSD chip to use the USB cable to put songs on your V3R, which is an additional cost, or you must use Motorola Phone Tools, which will cost you $29.95, or you must buy a bluetooth dongle for your computer, which they couldn't even assure me would work.
And be warned, some depart. store and mall employees either don't know or will lie to you and try tell you that the 3G on the sim card is 3 gigs of storage - it has nothing to do with storage, and refers only to the type of network that you can connect to. There is also some debate still that neither company could answer as to what size MicroSD chip this wil support - you may be limited to 1G of storage. It got poor reviews in the major tech mags for sound quality as well, so I gave up and returned it rather than spend another $100 on the parts that I wasn't assured would make it work properly. It's very pretty, but not worth the hassle. There are many MANY web boards out there dealing with this phone (and it's siblings) and the troubles people are having with moving files to and from.

If you want an MP3 phone, your best bet is the Sony Ericsson W300i Walkman phone, which I just bought here for a penny. It is not as sleek or pretty, you'll still need a memory card, and the camera is it's weak spot, but it got rave reviews for sound quality and ease of use, I've never had a Sony drop calls, and you can get an adapter to use your favorite 3.5 headphones to listen to your music. It even has the Sony "bass" that is so nice with their regular MP3 players. I have no fear that I will enjoy it as much as I hated the hassles of this phone, and as much as everyone else who's tried it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great phone, June 17, 2007

I've read some of the bad reviews and the biggest concern was the MP3 player. True, you have to buy a micro SD card, but I found a 2GB one here on Amazon for around $22. I only have a 512MB one because I upgraded from a Motorola ROKR that came with one. You also have to have a USB cable to fit, but it's a standard size one you can pick up at any discount store pretty cheap. The best thing about the MP3 player is it syncs easily with Windows Media Player. Just drag the songs from your library to the Motorola icon and click Sync. A couple little things to remember. The music files must be in either MP3 or AAC format and a bit rate of 128 or less. My small card will hold about 100 songs, so the 2GB should hold around 400.

5.0 out of 5 stars RAZR is badass, May 22, 2007

Everyone says them Motorola RAZR suck! They break so easy blah blah blah. Well they're actually wrong. Motorola RAZR is actually one of the most sturdy phone I've ever owned. Its been dropped, fell in a puddle, thrown, stepped on, pretty much through hell and high water. And with the expandable memory card that you can buy its good for music but you can also make your own ringtones and use those. You can buy a program, cut the song shorter to like the chorus line and put it on your phone for a ringtone. And text messaging is easy with the T9 predictive text. Its easy and fast to text. So I would definally recommend the RAZR for anyone who is looking for a phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS PHONE, April 15, 2007
This review is from: MOTOROLA RAZR V3r CINGULAR AT&T CELL PHONE (Wireless Phone)
dispite what everyone else says i found that the mp3 player is on the phone and that you do NOT have to buy a $40.00 package. it works great just add a sd card and rock on. it has every feature that i could ever dream of haveing. And once again the MP3 player IS built in and you do not have to buy the package to use it. the package is so you can download songs from the internet. just buy a usb firewire cable for your phone and use itunes to convert the song of choice to mp3 format move it to your phone and woooooooohooooooooo!!!!! rock and roll!! The Ringer ID and Pic ID is great. records video with audio. takes great pics. I LOVE THIS PHONE!!! MP3 player is located Mystuff>Games&Apps>Digital Audio Player.

I had to exchange this phone the first time i tried using it because it had problems with the battery or something. But when they sent me a new one it worked out much better. This phone is a really cute color. It's very small and i love it. I can't think of any cons to this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best phone i've had yet, December 25, 2006
This review is from: MOTOROLA RAZR V3r CINGULAR AT&T CELL PHONE (Wireless Phone)
this is the coolest phone i have ever owned! everyone comments on the cool color of it, wanting to know where to get one. the mp3 player holds up to 2GB of music and i can plug it straight into the stereo in my truck. i previously had a silver v3, and i love this one so much more. it is easier to use, the menu items are more user friendly, and it just looks good!
