I'm considering taking this back to where I bought it, if they take returns. I've seen wind up timers work perfectly after numerous decades, but this one? ... So far, I've not once gotten it to ring. I can tell it has the bell inside, of course. After reading the below response, I guess it might ring if I set it to a high limit, but, that sort of defeats the purpose and really doesn't fit my needs for the product.
It IS really cute. I had never seen one before and was charmed when I ran across it at a local specialty store. I've since discovered that I paid more for it than I might have otherwise (or so the internet now leads me to believe) ... not that it's worth even that, unfortunately -- or not the one *I* have.

This timer is adorable, but in actually relying on it for precise time count downs, it does not fare so well. The last 5 minutes sometimes goes off ringing early, or never rings at all. Cute novelty item, but a digital countdown timer would be a better investment.
