This grill surface thermometer does its job just like it is supposed too. I have owned it for about 2 years and it has seen many uses on the gas and charcoal grills. It has a color coded face so you can easily see if you have the heat high enough to sear or if you are staying withing the idea grilling zone. It also has notches on the face which allow you to insert a spatula to remove it. All in all....I am impressed with the accuracy and durability of this product.

Attached to oven rack wires fine. Accuracy matches 2 other oven thermometers within 5-10 degrees (don't know which ones are correct). Redesign should include bigger numbers. It can be read from about 30" away, but through the oven window it is difficult if it is in the back.

This unit lets you know if you have hot and cool spots on your grill. Just move it around to check the temperature of the grills surface.

Works well so far. Gives confidence in grill surface temp when the hood is up. I some times overheated the grill, --burned--charred-- etc. Item moves around easily
and helps to keep the proper grill temps. Perhaps not needed if you are an accomplished griller, but helps to train us not so accomplished.

Works great! Huge help gauging when the grill is ready and when additional briquettes are needed. The only issue I've had is that when I leave the thermometer on the grill with the cover closed under high heat it "fogs" up. You can wash the oily fog off a few minutes later. For this reason I only use it when the cover is off.

If you grill a lot this is a handy gadget to have. Knowing the surface temp your grilling on helps you get consistent results time after time. It's also useful for spotting temp variations. This one seems fairly accurate and does the job.

The temp. gauge works well.
After 6 heat cycles it has a well used patina.

I usually use a charcoal grill because I prefer the flavor but sometimes it's difficult to maintain the right amount of charcoal and/or oxygen for the desired cooking temperature. This thermometer can sit right on your grill grate so you know the exact temperature at the point of food contact. Then you can add coals or adjust vents as desired.

The only caveat is partially my own fault: Over time the glass will get dirty with grill smoke and/or food grease. You must wait until the thermometer cools before you clean the glass. At some point I placed in the sink to be cleaned while it was still too hot and when the glass got wet it shattered. It would be nice if an item that is intended to be repeatedly heated to greater than 400 degrees was made with shatter proof tempered glass but that complaint is pretty weak considering the thermometer was about $10

I was hoping to use this thermometer for a long time, unfortunately after about a month and a half of BBQing 3 times a week, the entire face was unreadable. I'm not sure why, but the thermometer was easily the dirtiest thing in the entire grill, and cleaning the face eventually wasn't good enough anymore. If you're looking for a thermometer that is going to last, I don't think you should trust this one.

It worked well but did not hold up to all the smoke in my smoker because the glass darkens quickly. Better for a grill.
