This review is from: MRD410B/F7 Blu-ray Home Cinema System (Electronics)
Very satisfied with the product. Excellent instructions and took just 10 minutes to set up. Very easy to use remote and color coded for the blue hairs in your family. Blu-ray player and receiver is sturdy and sleek. Sound quality and speakers are above average and out perform many of my other, more expensive theatre systems. An excellent value.

Great player at a great price!,
This review is from: MRD410B/F7 Blu-ray Home Cinema System (Electronics)
I'm not very good at writing reviews so I'll just give some facts about the player.-The Blu-Ray profile for the player is 1.1 so it is not BD-Live compatible. -The players Firmware can easily be updated via recordable CD. The Magnavox website has easy instructions on how to download the latest Firmware and to write to the CD and install it to the player. At the time of this review, Firmware Version 1.3 is the latest. So if you buy this player be sure to check if you have the latest Firmware available. -A lot of people complain on some Blu-Rays/DVDs that they have to continually change the volume of the sound because maybe the voices are too low so they turn up the volume to hear but then the action or other sounds get way too loud so they turn the volume down until the loud sounds are over. I agree that it is annoying sometimes that they make the voices too low. But this player has the option to adjust the volume of EACH of the 5 speakers and subwoofer via the system menu before playing a Blu-Ray/DVD. All the speakers start at 0 DB so you can change each of them to up to either 10+ DB for louder sound or -10 DB for lower sound just for that speaker or speakers. I am not sure if you can adjust the sound of each speaker while the Blu-Ray is playing. I might try and see if you can the next time I play a Blu-Ray and see if I can edit this review with the results. -The only problem I have so far with this player is the settings for HDMI. You cannot choose a resolution when your using HDMI. The only options are AUTO and 480P. My HDTV is 720p but on AUTO, the player always selects 1080i and not 720p. I have not found a way around this which sucks because I want it on 720p. But that is my only problem with the player so far. Overall, I still love this player so far despite the HDMI thing and it not being Profile 2.0. The fact that it comes with it's own 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer at only $250 (right now) is a HUGE plus for those without surround sound systems. There are other Blu-Ray players that are cheaper but they don't include their own 5.1 surround sound systems. So not only do you get the great picture quality with this player, you get the great sound quality as well. I have only played a few movies on this player so far but the picture quality was great. I highly recommend this player.

Decent home theater system,

Decent home theater system. Speakers all sound great, DVD works well. Four things really bother me however, which means it is simply not a replacement for a receiver:(1) No digital audio input. That just seems strange to me. (2) No HDMI inputs, which is somewhat more understandable, but required me to hook up a splitter (3) On-unit display is useless, you have to be connected through a TV to adjust anything. It won't even allow you to scroll through different source options on the display (4) They have the custom plugs for speaker wire on the back of the unit. I understand this is a plus for some people, but for me it just meant an extra step in rewiring the unit. All in all the sound quality is what I'd expect from a set at this price
