Editorial Reviews

Review
Praise for the previous edition: "This is the very model of a modern major general text on MRI in the neurosciences, and I would not hesitate to recommend it as a reliable source-text for the relative beginner and the expert alike." --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Product Description
Now available as a book and CD package, the Third Edition of this classic text is the definitive encyclopedia on cranial and spinal MRI. This edition features new chapters on functional neuroanatomy, diffusion MRI, perfusion MRI, task activation functional MRI, epilepsy, the cranial nerves and psychiatric disorders. The previous edition's chapters have been extensively revised to reflect the evolution of new imaging techniques. Virtually all of the previous edition's MR images have been replaced with newer, sharper examples (along with 400 colour illustrations). The tables have been redesigned, with use of colour in a more modern design for greater clarity and visual appeal and the book has now been split into two volumes for easier day to day practice use. The CD provides instant, one-click access to the complete text and images of Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain and Spine, Third Edition and is Windows / Macintosh Compatibl

4.0 out of 5 stars readable and concise, July 27, 2003
By A Customer
Complete well organized text. Very readable with the exception of the sections on MRI physics (a little too much "high-level", mathematical physics for the everyday neuroradiologist). Good quality images and pathological correlation. Overall, very good reference text that is not too overly and unnecessarily encyclopedic and exhausting to read.

1.0 out of 5 stars CAVEAT EMPTOR! May end up with just Volume 1!, January 28, 2009
I ordered this 2 volume set expecting to get both books. Lo and behold, the order arrives with just volume 1! Had I known this problem would occur, I would just have gone ahead and purchased the book at a discount from the publisher website. I complained by phone, and the customer service representative seemed to have a very hard time understanding what the problem was. I had to try to explain over and over and over before I got anywhere. It was only after I gave the actual two separate ISBN numbers corresponding to this two book set that the AMAZON representative started understanding. To add insult to injury, several weeks after volume 2 finally arrived, I got an email from AMAZON reminding me that they had not received the initial book I was supposed to have returned! Apparently, my initial complaint was processed as a return, and AMAZON was expecting to have volume 1 returned. I had to explain that the order was incomplete to begin with and that I had received only 1 of the 2 books of the two volume set I had paid for and that there was therefore nothing for me to return to AMAZON! I was then told that the email was sent out in error. I would seriously think twice before ordering this book from AMAZON. You do not want to end up wasting time with a fisaco like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars State of the Art, October 29, 2002
By FoodMan "curej" (Indian Springs, AL USA) - See all my reviews
Scott Atlas' book is THE reference text of choice for neuroradiologists and other neuroimagers. There simply is no other neuroradiology text that approaches the depth, quality, and timeliness of imaging and pathological information provided in this text. The MR physics discussions are unparalleled, as well. Other less exhaustive neuroradiology texts might be more appropriate for radiology residents, but this is the text that Neuroradiology fellows and attendings should be referring to. Bravo.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money.
Both poorly written and edited. Pictures are poor quality. Too much basic science and not enough clinical application. Overall, good for Ph.Ds, not physicians. Read more
