Alpine's V Series is a nice series of mid-grade amplifiers. They aren't high end, but they price is isn't "high end" either. They are efficient and work well with vehicles that don't exactly have a lot of extra amps available for powering amplifiers. I run an MRP-M500 and an MRP-F300 in my Honda Fit and they both supply me with good, clean power without taxing my car's electrical system.

In my system, the M500 is powering a 12" subwoofer in a small, sealed box. That's not exactly a formula for maximum bass impact, but the M500 does a great job pushing my subwoofer to its fullest potential. The Class-D circuitry makes the amp very efficient so that it will work well in most vehicles electrical systems.

The only downside I've found is that the EQ functions are rather limited. You get controls for center frequency, crossover point, and bass boost. It makes it a little more difficult to get a smooth sound between this amp and your four-channel amp. It just takes longer than if there were more EQ controls. Also, the bass boost puts a definite peak in its frequency output so that the amplitude drops off above and below the center frequency. That means that if you want to get the maximum power output, your range is going to be somewhat limited.

Overall, I'm very happy with the M500. As long as you're not looking to power a massive, inefficient subwoofer, it should give you a very smooth, musical sound.

This amp rocks! I wired it to an Alpine Type-R SWR-1242D - Car subwoofer driver - 500 Watt - 12" in a sealed box and it gets loud enough to make my hair shake while maintaining great SQ. It doesn't get very hot; I've always been able to put my hand on it comfortably. There are removable endpieces that make it easier to hide the wires. I used spade tongue terminals on all the wires, slid them beneath the screws and then screwed them down, which makes a very secure connection and is easily removable.

The Alpine M500 is a wonderful little amp for subs. I have it installed under my drivers seat and it fits perfectly. I have 2 Kicker CVR 10s running off this beauty. The amp puts out good power and is very stable. I have not had a problem with it yet. I have had it in for about a year and it has held up and works great. I am running my amp on 2-ohm impedance and it performs wonderfully.
If your looking for great value and great sound, get this amp. It is a wonderful starter amp that will perform beautifully.

A Powerful little amp indeed! Matched this with the new 2010 Alpine type r 12" 1243D DVC subwoofer, a sealed .99cu ft box and it's clean. This amplifier puts out a true *certified* 500W RMS unlike many other "budget" amps that can't meet their claims.
If you're looking for an amp that performs very cleanly and efficiently, while still pushing some major power, then this Alpine amp is definitely what you're looking for.

Looks like some people are reviewing Amazons service and not the amp itself. This is a good solid amp for running a single 12 or maybe two 10's. You're not going to get thunderous knock you can hear 5 blocks away but that's not what Alpine is selling with this line of amps. I run my SWS-1223D with this amp and it gets plenty low while still staying clean and running cool. I've run it several hours straight with some pretty aggressive music and it hasn't overheated. It gets a 2 ½ hour workout every day on my commute and hasn't failed yet. I very rarely think about the amp and that's exactly what I was looking for. I want it to do the job so I forget it's there and can just enjoy the music. Add a remote level control so you can tweak it on the fly if necessary. As mentioned by another reviewer it can be hard to blend with its limited EQ functions.

This amplifier works pretty good. It is currently powering my JL 3v3 at 4ohms and the sub sounds nice. The only problem you might encounter is that if you want to put 4awg you need those adapter prongs.

I have this small, but powerful amp pushing to 12 inch Alpine subwoofers. Great quality and great performance! Got it hooked up at an audio dealer and it really pushes these subs to the limit!
