From safety standpoint, this type of earplug has been tested as best for protection from hearing damage (better than ear muffs). The trick is, the user has to roll the plug thin before inserting into ear canal, where it expands and then considerably softens loud noises. It feels strange until you get used to it. The other thing is, if your hands are dirty, clean them first, before rolling and inserting plug, and it's advisable to discard plug and insert new when removing them. They're fairly cheap, and your hearing is worth it. But they do work.

I've made it a habit of wearing ear plugs to sleep ever since college (8 years ago) so I've been through a lot of earplugs over the years and these were very disappointing for me personally as they stick out too far and aren't thick enough for my ears. I've honestly never run into this problem with disposables which are typically all the same size... As for noise reduction, they're just average. I highly recommend Mack's line of ear plugs for sleeping.

Jackhammers, air compressors, nailers - you name it and I have been blocking it out with these plugs. Squeeze them fully with your fingers, place right in your ear lightly and wait about 8 seconds and they fill back out. Have worn them for hours at a time. Easily worth the money. They of course don't block out everything. You need full, over the ear ear muffs if you need more noise protection than these provide.

These seem to be a little smaller than other tapered ear plugs I've used over the years but I think they'll work fine and are a good buy for disposable plugs.Update: After using these a few times I'm lowering the rating to 3 stars. I've used many types of earplugs over the years in machine shops and while using chain saws. The best (for my purpose) have a level of stiffness that allows them to stay compressed while inserting in the ear. This way they can be placed well into the ear to dampen the sound. The ones I'm reviewing are smaller and softer than I'm accustomed to and don't seem to work as well for me. If you have a large crowd over to help you remove a stand of trees this package would be great. For myself, I'll be buying the individual packages that I'm used to.

Not much to review. They are ear plugs and they work good. I like the package: it's easy to find in my garage, keeps the earplugs dry and clean, and is easy to open.

These don't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,
This review is from: MSA Safety Works 10087625 Foam Ear Plugs, Orange and Green, 80-Pairs (Tools & Home Improvement)
Too soft, do not allow you to roll into cylinder and insert in the ear, especially when warm. I have been using ear plugs for 25 years, I know the correct insertion procedure, very few makes hold shape correctly to be installed. These just crumple and don't insert and waste my (limited) patience.I have bought pack of 100 from home depot, green, hexagon shape, worked great, can even be washed and reused many times, but I can't find the name now, I will add another comment if I find them.

These earplugs worked great. I'm not sure why others had a problem getting them in their ears because they went in and out with ease. A little twist on the end and in they went. No problems. Shot a semi-auto rifle and hardly even noticed. I would buy these again and again at their price.

For me these ear plugs blocked the sound satisfactorily once I got them in. But there's the rub--they are nearly impossible to get in. When you roll up these super-soft plugs then start to insert them, they instantly pop out into their original shape. Twisting them doesn't help. You end up poking and prodding them, cramming them, into your ear canal. It takes forever to do and can leave your ear sore. But if you finally get them in well enough to block the ear canal, they do block the sound. And they do have a cute package.

These were a fantastic price, and will last me a couple of years of mowing and power tool use. However, they don't seem to expand that quickly. Other foam earplugs I've used in the past fill back out within 5 seconds, with these, I have to hold the ends in for nearly 30 seconds or they will just fall right out.Now this could be because the last time I mowed the lawn it was 38 degrees. Foam does tend to become "slower" and "harder" in lower temperatures. If I remember to do so, I will report back when it is hot out. Oh, and I didn't notice this until someone pointed it out: The container is shaped like a giant earplug! Bonus!

Just needed bulk package of earbuds for shooting / various other loud activities. These just fit the bill and were not too expensive. I like the design of the package and how the top opens but honestly it's all asthetic. I'm sure there are slightly cheaper per earbuds out there but this just caught my eye. |
