I use this respirator for woodworking and painting, the cartridges are easy to replace and work very well. I don't know how often others should replace their cartridges--I believe that probably depends on what materials you're working with and how frequently you use the mask, but for a home weekend user like me it seems three months per set of cartridges works well.

I use these MSA cartridges whenever I do spray painting or work with other chemicals like Bondo. Several times after finishing work I have taken off the respirator and been shocked at how strong the fumes were in my garage, but the respirator did a great job of blocking them. I found they are not too hard to breathe through, either.

One helpful hint: I'd avoid storing these cartridges or the respirator in cheap pressboard cabinets or drawers...at least not until the pressboard has some time to air out after assembly. I stored mine in a new set of pressboard drawers, and after a while the fumes from the pressboard seemed to soak into the respirator and I could smell them whenever I put it on. I had to get new cartridges and wash out the mask to fix the problem.

I bought his mask that works with these cartridges about 6 months ago and have used it quite often for painting, sanding, cutting PT wood. It was time to replace the cartridges so I purchased these. Unpacked them and locked them right in with no problems. I would buy these again.

The MSA product works great. The mask is comfortable and allows natural breathing. The Multi-purpose cartridges are definitely the best for the handy man/woman. I don't want to waste time wondering if I have the right respirator for the job, nor do I want to stock multiple respirators. The only downside I've found is that neither Lowes nor HomeDepot sell MSA respirators when I needed one in a jiffy for a project. The project was delayed a couple days until these shipped.

These cartridges and the MSA Safety masks on which they fit protected my Citadel students on ten missions to Mississippi after Katrina, where we gutted mold-filled muddy homes. Not one of us was sick as long as we were wearing them. Since then, I've used these and some of the other MSA cartridges and know they're very reliable.

Fits well and has a quality look and feel.And most of all it protects.I would not hesitate to recommened this for everyday work.
