Product Description

The Atomic system is based on an easy-to-install throttle body design that will provide modern drivability benefits to street rods and muscle cars - anything with a carburetor. It's meant to replace a standard square bore carburetor and can be installed by the average car guy and a friend in a home garage with simple tools within a weekend. In fact, with a little preparation, you should be able to start Saturday morning and make the cruise that night. We wanted to make EFI easy which means less wiring, self learning technology and a return less fuel system. This means you can incorporate the factory fuel line in most applications and you don't have to modify the tank or sending unit with a second line. Plus, the system is self learning and measures pressure and temperature so that once it is installed it's done. No lap top is needed for programming as everything is done through a simple hand-held monitor. Only 8 wires you will need to connect, plus you can control timing too.

MSD pushes the returnless feature but I suggest you download the MSD installation instructions first and read through them. You cannot use your OEM steel fuel line as a delivery line. The instructions tell you to run a rubber high pressure fuel line under the car all the way from the fuel pump to the engine. The reason behind this is that the rubber line absorbs the pulsations from the pump. I am not to keen on running a rubber line and using zip ties to secure it under the car. Next not all vehicles can use the returnless feature. They have a questioner in the front of the manual, if you cannot add up 5 points the returnless system will not work for you. Now if you wind up needing the return system MSD sells the return kit for approx 400 bucks. This easily pushes the total cost of the system close to 3 grand. With all the efi systems that are available I personally don't think it's worth it. If I have to go with a return system I might as well buy the EZ EFI. At least with minor modification I can use the steel line as the pressure line. I just recently purchased it with free shipping for less than 1900 bucks! For what MSD is charging for this system you should at least be supplied with steel braided hose given the enviroment that the rubber line would be exposed to.

the advertised returnless fuel system is a joke-you need to answer questions to equal 5 points in the directions to run as a returnless system, unless you always drive in below 80 degree whether it is impossible to meet the requirements. it was not a big deal for me because i had a second line and a port arleady in the tank, but i did have to spend an extra 158.00 on a pressure reg. it was a very easy install and seems to work well, only driven it 150 miles so far.

Installed the unit with the return line option on top of a supercharged 302 in a old 53 Willys m38a1. Also utilizing the timing control.

Pretty easy install overall. The parts and wire supplied in the kit are very high quality. Used a Wix 33107 spin on fuel filter for the pre- fuel filter rather than the one supplied (better suited for my fuel cell set up and intended off road use). Did use the supplied pre fuel filter for a pcv intake filter.

Driving normal on the street use to get 13 mpg with a old race carburetor plus deal with stumbles on steep inclines.
With the atomic efi and no timing control got 17 mpg.
After adding the timing control feature idol is more stable and performance overall noticeably smoother.
Very happy with it,
