This is my first board featuring a UEFI bios, I love it.
Julian P. Lazaro
I sent it in and received a new (or refurbished of great quality) one for free with the process taking about 10 days total.
Robert Tegland
All in all for a budget MB it works well and except for the OverClock Genie it does exactly what it claims.

Bought this for Price and MSI quality! Amazon Cheaper then the rest but still carries the best! 16x-8x pci-e slots, Lots of pci-e 1x slot for other expansion. Only thing is I wish it had 2 more sata ports and one more on-board usb header. Overall great board to price ratio for 990 chipset. Thanx again Amazon!!!!!

My first impression of this board is the build quality is good, it has 8+2 VRM for core voltage regulation, and components are good quality. The bad part is the BIOS is really bad, the GUI interface looks like something comes out of the early 90s, if you ever try to enable CPU Core Unlock function within the OC BIOS menu, you will get into a boot infinity loop, you reboot the system and it will come to the BIOS set up screen without you even ask for it, the only way out is to disable the CPU Core Unlock function, but the purpose of it is for you to select your own CPU multiplier, go figure this one out, I can't.

My feeling of this board is hardware people (MSI) is trying to do software (BIOS), does not work very well. Board performance is OK, I run Prim 95 for 3 hours without any problem.

After I contacted MSI tech support, they are very responsive and even provide me a beta BIOS to try out, it fixed my problem, I will add back one star for responsiveness, but I still think their BIOS is not up to par compare with the other offerings, MSI board is good though, I have no complaint of its quality. If you are not going to put it to heavy pace and overclock using BIOS, this is a good product for you.

Motherboard is running fine, no problem encountered.

Board is still running great, I think MSI's logo of military grade components are not just for marketing show purpose, upgrade CPU to AMD 8350 8 cores, BIOS upgraded to support the CPU, upgrade utility is really nice, you can upgrade from within the Windows 8, do not have to boot to external media.

It is what I expected. If I had more to spend I would have selected a different MB but this gave me a lot of bang for the buck and I was on a budget. I wish it had a header for the 3.0 USB ports so they could be brought to the front of the case. There are two 3.0 USB ports but only on the back-plane. But then I knew this before I purchased it. If I am disappointed by anything it is MSI's Overclock Genie. Overclock Genie will automatically set up Overclocking for you but my system eventually crashes after enabling it. It might run 20 minutes or an hour or so with Overclock Genie enabled before it crashes but it will eventually crash so I stopped using it. Admittedly I know next to nothing about overclocking so your experience may differ. It would have been nice to let it manage overclocking but I guess I'll just have to learn a little about it myself. The documentation leaves a lot to be desired but is about the same as I am used to from other manufacturers. All in all for a budget MB it works well and except for the OverClock Genie it does exactly what it claims.

Added 10 Mar 2013 , Regarding my disappointment with Overclock Genie... I am currently running a 550 watt Zumax psu. It and my current hard drive are the only things I kept from my old desktop. Everything else is brand new with this build. I suspect my psu may be coming up short as far as reliable power is concerned. If so my criticism of Overclock Genie may be unfair. So before trying to overclock again and to support future expansion I have ordered a PC Power and Cooling 750 watt psu. It should be here this week and when I get it installed I will try Overclock Genie again and report my results.

This is my first board featuring a UEFI bios, I love it. I'm running the 8350 cpu, updated the bios to be compatible with it by purchasing a $30 Sempron processor. Quick note, just for fun I overclocked the Sempron 145 to 4.0 ghz and it was incredibly quick considering the price (you can even unlock some to dual core).
The board is thick and sturdy, excellent quality capacitors and vrm system. I overclocked the 8350 to 4.7 ghz, and watching the voltage in cpuz I can see how incredibly stable the power system is with this board, the voltage is laser locked to the correct level (in comparison with my previous AM3 board that had pretty unstable vcore regulation.
The board is a bit slow to boot, it takes about 10 seconds to post for me, some might find that annoying (I don't see any quickboot bios options). SATA speeds are excellent with my primary SSD. If you don't plan to use two graphics cards in crossfire, don't spend more for a 990fx board, that's really the only difference (two 16x PCIe). For several years I have exclusively purchased MSI boards and graphics cards for their pricing-quality ratio.

Rule #1: Don't ever skimp on your power supply or motherboard when building. RAM, cpus, even graphics cards, are pretty reliable in general, but they need a good foundation to operate properly.
