CPU: Intel i7 Core-930
Motherboard: Asus P6X58D-E
RAM: 12GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600Mhz
Power Supply: Corsair HX850
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

After reading all the "horror stories" here, I decided to take the risk and purchase a set. Less than $250 for a 4GB R9 card is very hard to resist. I bought mine from another vendor. It was $40 cheaper than Amazon.

- The moment I received the graphic card, I booted up my PC.

- I uninstalled the old ATI driver and shut down the PC.

- Removed the old graphic card.

- Insert the new graphic card into the PCI-E slot. Make sure it sits properly.

- Insert the 2X 6-pins power inputs.

- Boot up the PC and pray hard.

- Windows detects new graphic card IMMEDIATELY... Phew!

- Installed the new drivers and AMD Catalyst.

- That's all folks! I am a happy camper.

Purchased 2 of these cards to replace the 2 6870 I had. Performance was greatly improved. Was running newer games at medium quality but with 2 of these cards run everything maxed out at 1080p. 3DMark score also went from 3200 to 8850.

Only complaint is that the cards would NOT detect in windows after I removed the old and replaced with the new. Even with just one card at a time. I had to re-install windows and then they both detected no problem. Other then that everything is working great.

Also want to mention these cards are also much more quite then the 2 Asus 6870s CU I had.

The MSI R9 270x delivers - and, in fact, was delivered early.

I have used this on Ubuntu 13.10 and 12.04.4, and also windows. Of course, if it is the graphics experience you desire, then windows works best. However, with the right drivers and know how you can achieve full gaming potential on Linux. Within a year, there might not be too much distinction between Operating Systems.

Graphics-wise, this machination is beastly.

Con: On Linux, at least, it may take some time to properly support your TV and or monitor. A pesky inconvenience due to the many variations of software. Or you may have no problem at all. For Linux users, as always, patience and troubleshooting are your friends.

My gaming son complained that the fan on his graphics card was noisy & then the fan & the card died... He was wanting a card that had better rendering performance & after a little research, this appeared to be the best cost/performance tradeoff. He has a huge gaming case & the card fit no problem & somehow AMD's catalyst found the card & automatically installed the drivers. He's a happy camper.

This card is very long; I had to relocate a disk drive to get it in my computer. Another 1/8" & it wouldn't fit.

I don't game, but I try to manage my investments & massive screen real estate helps, a lot. I upgraded from an Apple 30" cinema display, 2560x1600, to a Seiki 39" 4k TV, 3840x2160 & it's impressive. It also only does high resolution over a HMDI 1.4a cable, so I had to get a new video card that does 1.4a & the kids worked so well, I got one for me also. The Win7 graphics & gaming graphics scores are both 7.9. My computer has a raid 5 array made up of six 3TB disks, a SSD boot drive & other power consumers. My power supply is rated at 500 Watts & it seems to power my computer w/no problem; APC's PowerChute program says the computer & the Seiki are using 153 Watts combined (yes one hundred fifty three, no typo) which seems low. There was a power failure yesterday & APC kept the computer & Seiki chugging.

It's a solid graphics card. You can't go wrong with this AMD card with all of its features. Its a great midrange card. I definitely recommend this card over the 2GB card for obvious reasons. It's quiet and just a great all around video card. I definitely recommend it.
