I spent a lot of time researching and comparing laptops before settling on this product. Initially, I was reluctant to choose this particular model due to the lack of reviews here on Amazon as well as other sites. However, other similar MSI products had great reviews so I decided to take the plunge and go with this model based on MSI's overall reputation for dependability and quality.

I'm not a hardcore gamer and have general knowledge of computers. However, I wanted something with a little extra under the hood in case I wanted/needed it. Meant to replace an aging laptop, I use this laptop for my everyday computing needs as well as gaming. So far, it has handled everything exceptionally! Intitial startup was painless and I found little in the way of preloaded bloatware. Everyday startup is fast and this baby more than handles my everyday computing needs.

Gamewise, the only thing I've had time to run on this rig so far is Sid Meier's Civilization V. Clearly not that graphic intensive, however it more than adequately handles the highest graphic settings with ease. Nothing in the way of lag or hesitation has been noted.

Much ado has been made about the size of similar laptops. While big, I don't find it as obnoxiously big as others have suggested. The reality is this is a gaming/desktop replacement rig...not an ultrabook. If you're looking for something small and light, you're barking up the wrong tree by researching this type of laptop. It's big for a reason, but its size is manageable and it's transportable. I'm able to fit mine in a standard size backpack. The AC/DC adapter is a beast though...it's as big as a brick!

One of my main concerns was heat displacement and this rig can get rid of some heat! This model stays pretty cool during everyday computing. When things start to get warm gamewise, there's a fan boost option that kicks in another fan. The second fan increases fan noise however I don't find it to be overly excessive or distracting. The second fan more than adequately displaces heat when needed. Due to the amount of heat it displaces, I'd highly suggest getting some type of portable lapdesk.

The only shortcoming I've found so far is speaker sound quality. Like many laptops, sound is "tinny" however nothing headphones or external speakers can't fix.

All in all, I'm pleased with this laptop. It's pricey, however most gaming/desktop replacements are. It does everything I need it to do and there's still a little left in the gas tank in case I need it to do more.

Fantastic gaming rig, Plays BF3 on Ultra settings all day long. Glad they decided to put the GTX 675M in this model, I added a Crucial 256gig SSD to run the OS and games, now it's benching around 4200 on 3dMark11. Had an Asus G53sx before, it was only benching 2500 with an overclocked GTX 560m. I really don't have anything bad to say about it at all, fantastic screen, keyboard...very solid and well built. They could improve the charger a bit by making it a bit smaller and run a bit cooler, but that's obviously a small gripe. For the money, absolutely unbeatable.

I went with the MSI GT70 OND-202US, and it was the worst decision of my life. I just switched to Asus, because I highly prefer laptop gaming systems, despite their performance not being up to par with desktops yet. I had the MSI GT70 around when it first came out, about 2 years ago. I ended up having to get it shipped in THREE times, YES, 3 TIMES back to the MSI company because every single time they sent me a defective laptop. Maybe they should be little more careful when manufacturing these things. 2 of the times, it was a defective key on the keyboard. The keyboard is very weak, and easy to break so be careful, test every key you got to make sure its not defective. After two years, I just started getting blue screens because I think the fan on the video card was malfunctioning which eventually led to the video card blowing out.

BOTTOM LINE: This product will not last you very long, I don't think they make it to last very long, they probably do it intentionally . So bear that in mind when purchasing MSI.

If you deciding between this and the Asus, I would go with the Asus.

I am an avid video gamer that usually plays on bleeding edge PCs. My current PC has an EVGA GTX680 in it that is awesome on an ASRock X79 extreme9 motherboard nicely tweaked. I note that as a baseline for my comments on this laptop. This laptop, from a gaming experience perspective, is quite close to my PC. Obviously if it can play games like RIFT at ULTRA settings, any business or multimedia needs are easily met. I was going to purchase another well known gaming laptop for almost twice what I paid for this one and am delighted that I found this MSI laptop. For the price I paid, I do not think there is anything else out there for the same value. I had a need to contact Adorama for a side issue and was quite pleased with their customer service as well.

I've had this laptop for two months now, purchased a refurbished one for a good price and could not be happier with it. Runs great. World of Warcraft plays nicely on ultra settings and looks fantastic. Skyrim as well.

The illuminated keyboard is incredibly cool and you can customize the colors, as well as turn it on and off with the touch buttons at the top of the keyboard. No problems with the sound, in fact I found this laptop to sound much better than even the asus model I had briefly and comparable to the old Alienware I was replacing, which had great sound.

Overall it's a great laptop for the price and power and I highly recommend it .

No blemishes, perfect, clocked 675m up to around 750 core 50 fps on BF3. Processor chews everything, video editing, multitasking, keyboard is beautiful, Bigfoot LAN is good but bootup prompt is annoying, added own SSD, for price kix azz....

The speed and power are amazing! extreme satisfaction when running games at maxed out settings (Skyrim runs like a dream!) the ONLY thing i've found negative about this is that the default sound drivers do not do the speakers justice. Update your sound drivers and take advantage of them!

I have a desktop with geforce 560 in sli 1gb. This laptop keeps up very nicely. The processor destroys the 8 core AMD fx 8150 in video encoding. The hard drive is a little slow, my decktop has 3 126 gb in raid 0, but it is a freakin laptop. I bought a ssd samsung 256 gb and will check back once I install.

So far this is a great gaming laptop.

Specs don't matter when their hardware is horrible quality, and their customer service is non-existent. I made the mistake of buying an MSI laptop, and I couldn't regret it more. I have to replace it after owning it for less than 8 months because they refuse to honor their warranty. Already the battery needs to be replaced, the webcam and screen were damaged right out of the box, and the keyboard sticks on a number of keys. I asked for help and after ignoring me completely for 4 months, they now tell me that I have to pay to fix my computer that is under warranty, and send it away for a month (after I explained that I need it for work, and need to get it repaired by someone near me). For this charged repair, I also have to pay shipping and handling for their poor quality product to be repaired over the course of a month. I can see why they are so poorly reviewed for customer service (they got a 57 negative comments and only 3 positive comments, rating them as "terrible" - [...]. BUYER BEWARE!
