I've bought Gigabyte boards for my last couple builds, and have been reasonably happy with them. A buddy of mine convinced me to switch to MSI for my most recent build, and I'm a bit underwhelmed.

Strikes against:

1st one was DOA - came out of the box with the "primary bios failed" light blinking. Experienced random system freezes that were only solved by a hard reboot.

BIOS looks nice and GUI-ish - but the implementation isn't great. The attempts to update the BIOS interface for use with a mouse make navigating and making changes a bit awkward confusing compared to the straight keyboard BIOSes I'm used to.

BIOS resets settings whenever there's a hardware change. This includes adding/removing HDDs, video cards, etc. It drives me absolutely nuts.

Good stuff:

OC Genie - Push a button on the motherboard before booting (once), and you're OC'd ... because I'm too lazy to mess with the fiddly OC settings myself

Easy BIOS updating - Has a linux distro that pulls in the BIOS update and applies it automatically ... implementation isn't 100%, but still better than loading off USB stick IMHO

Lots of SATA ports

MSI LGA 1555 P67A-GD65 ATX-MB (B3)

I usually never right a review for a product but this MB and MSI really need to be exposed. First off I always buy ASUS but this MSI MB was requested as a possible future replacement.

3 out of 3 motherboards - MSI LGA 1555 P67A-GD65 ATX-MB (B3) were bad.

2 MB's were DOA- BIOS was bad, took a week to get MSI tell me to send back to AMAZON. MSI tried the check the RAM or CPU excuse but I knew the components I had were working fine.

The only MB that was not DOA seemed fine. The install went smooth and made it 48 hours. I was just about to start installing software when I smelled smoke, looked up and the board was on fire! I was lucky I was there to take care of it. 20 years building computers and I have never seen a board flame.

I have gone back to ASUS, obo 2x the price but definitely 10x the quality/performance.

So I didn't exactly by this motherboard from Amazon, I probably should have in hindsight. I bought my P67A-GD65 from the number 1 online computer parts store online. I won't name, names. The first board I got was DOA and when I sent it back they said it had bent pins and would not replace it. I wasn't too happy considering that I paid $170 it.

Well I RMA'd it with MSI and I shipped it on a Friday and had it back the following Friday. It only spent 1 day in processing. When I sent it back from to the place I bought if from they had it for a week before they rejected it. Granted I had to pay MSI $35 because it was damaged, but they replaced it. The board is working great and is easy to overclock. I wouldn't have given this board a 5 star, but felt compelled to based on the fact that their RMA service was very fast. I was impressed!

I bought this after comparing with the ASUS Sabertooth. In my opinion and based on some benchmark results i found on the internet you get more bang for the buck from the MSI board when compared to the ASUS Sabertooth.

So far so good, it was easy to set up. I haven't done any overclocking yet, but i did look at the built in software/tools to handle this and it seems like it will be an easy task.

The only real complaint I have is about the sound input location. The combination of my case's sound cables and the location of the inputs on the motherboard made for a difficult time or at least less than desirable appearance after getting it to work to stretch the cables to the plug-in point in the bottom left of the board.

4 out of 5, i really like it. More like 4.5 out of five. I would definitely buy another.

I've used MSI motherboards before though I'd recently had an ASUS board. When I was looking for something to go with a i5 2500K cpu this seemed like the best value for the money. Overclocking is really easy with this board though I don't think the OC Genie is that wonderful. It works but tends to overvolt the processor. Looks good, components are high quality. Good placement of various connectors. The front USB connector is a little tricky. There is a red box/housing around it that the little extra connector did not fit in.
Live Update does not work well. Don't bother installing it.

tons of ports! loads of USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, even has firewire. also has internal USB 2.0, 3.0 and firewire headers. which it had more USB 2.0 headers. (only has one set of header pins, the front of my case requires 2, will have to find an expansion card.)

really nice looking board, functions well. comes with USB 3.0 bracket for internal headers.

the box said it supports 16 GB RAM, i emailed MSI and confirmed it does support of to 32 GB RAM.

set this up along side an i7-2600k, CORSAIR XMS3 8GB x2 , MSI 1GB GDDR5 GTX 560, Patriot Pyro 120GB SSD, and a Cooler Master GX Series 750W ATX Power Supply

I just love UEFI! It looks gorgeous with mouse support (though mouse support is still in its infancy)

Managed to put all my high end components into the mobo without a problem. Build quality was great.

Got a decent OC of 4.4Ghz @ 2.95v on a i7-2600k (not brilliant)

Cons: The OC and memory OC options are a bit confusing but after some googling got it down pretty well.
