The MicroStar MEGA 865 may be a barebones computer, but it packs a lot of entertainment muscle. It's a full-function multimedia PC that combines information and entertainment to offer Hi-Fi stereo, DVD/VCD, MP3, and high-performing computer functions. And it's a stylishly designed HTPC barebone system that takes up a fraction of the space of tower PC case. Other features include built-in wi-fi, remote control, a pair of Mega 2.0 speakers and AM/FM antenna. Hard drive and processor must be purchased separately.

The Basics

• Processor: The Mega 865 is based on IntelR's 865G chipset, which supports 800 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB), the advanced dual-channel DDR400 memory configurations and it was optimized to support the Intel Pentium 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading Technology.
• Memory: The MEGA 865 has two RAM slots that will support up to 400 MHz DDR and a maximum of 2 GB of RAM.
• CD/DVD Drive: It includes a built-in DVD player, which also plays CDs and CD-R discs with MP3 files.
• Keyboard & Mouse: The MEGA 865 comes with a wireless mouse, folding keyboard, and remote control.

Screen, Graphics and Sound
The integrated Intel Extreme Graphics video/graphics card (with 64 MB of shared video memory) is adequate for streaming Internet video, but won't be enough for today's demanding immersive 3D games. It also features an integrated audio card and headphone, microphone, and line-in jacks.

Connectivity and Expansion Slots
The MEGA 865 has the following set of external ports:

• 4 USB 2.0 ports (2 in rear, 2 in front) for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
• 2 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link; 1 4-pin and 1 6-pin) ports for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals
• 2 PS/2 ports (for keyboard and mouse)
• 1 parallel port
• 1 serial port
• 3 free PCI slots

It includes an integrated 56K modem (V.90).
