Product Description

NOS is the MSI unique feature to use Hybrid Power design, combined with CPU Boost from Intel, GPU Boost from NVIDIA graphics and Cooler Boost 2 from MSI special design, this feature could brings much more performance enhancements to over 10% or even more. On MSI GT series gaming notebooks, when the system total usage power is over the maxima limitation of 180 W adaptor supply, NOS will auto turn on automatically to apply more currents and watts to support GPU to keep the boost work. MSI worked with Dynaudio, world-class name in sound system design from Denmark, studying electrical circuits, dozens of speaker drivers, and how to best arrange internal parts and components to optimize sound. The results of their studies have been incorporated into MSI's high-end GT series gaming NBs - the laptops with the best stereo sound in the industry. Hear your enemies perfectly, even on an ear-drum shattering battlefield. Thanks to Sound Blaster Cinema, you're getting amazing surround sound with just stereo headphones. Your most important gaming sound effects are reproduced crystal clear allowing you to focus on your game even during extremely long gaming sessions.

We buy gaming computers because they crunch our 3-D CAD drawings faster than most computers, and this one definitely meets our needs.

Keyboard feels great, backlighting is pretty awesome.

I would like to start off by stating that you will not find a lot of reviews about this computer, because it is not a mainstream reviewed computer and therefore does not get the comparison reviews of HP, Sony, Toshiba, Dell, Acer and some other popular name brands. MSI is one of the world's largest motherboard and video card manufacturers. In addition, MSI also manufactures a wide range of other computer products including laptops, All-in-One PCs, servers, and industrial PCs. MSI is a powerful and trusted name in the computer world and is well respected among computer savvy business users and computer assemblers.
PROS: This is a very nice well built computer, it has a lot of handy icon keys and tabs right on the keyboard so that you can do a lot of productive work similar to a smart phone while on the fly. Just read the simple instructions provided on the Manual, Driver, and Software CD. Once you have read the Manual, you will learn what the keys do by the icon on them and you're good to go. The MSI G Series GT70 computer is not loaded down with useless software that you end up having to remove to keep from loading up your start-up memory and hard drive. The keyboard is beautifully lit, which makes it great for use in dark areas. Technologically, this computer will meet most needs of the gaming enthusiast, as it was designed from the ground up to do this. We buy gaming computers because they crunch our 3-D CAD drawings faster than most computers, and this one definitely meets our needs.
CONS: Because this is a robust computer, it is a little heavier than some you may be used to. It is not one I would buy to carry around in the airport.
SUMMARY: GREAT COMPUTER

Out of all the gaming laptops out there, this truly is the best bang for your buck. Believe me, I've looked through them all and spent a lot time before deciding to go with this model.

Just unboxed it last night and had about six hours to play it. Right onto the meat and potatoes. Bioshock Infinite - All settings maxed, buttery frames. FarCry 3 - Ultra settings, although without any AA, buttery frames. Dota 2 - Too easy for this machine. Very impressed with how it handles. More high end than most desktop gaming rigs.

Build quality is good. Nothing extraordinary, but it feels solid, and is easy on the eyes. Keyboard feels great, backlighting is pretty awesome. Speakers get loud up in hur. Screen resolution is great and looks amazing. One of the selling points for this laptop was Windows 7. Praise the Lawd for Windows 7, I absolutely DESPISE windows 8 and having 7 is a breath of fresh air. Can't just be me who feels this way, I will bash Windows 8 every chance that I get.

So why not 5 stars? Battery wouldn't charge to 100%. It went up to 96% and said "Plugged in, not charing". Umm.. what? I plugged it in right out of the box and let it charge for a good six hours and it only goes up to 96%. Needless to say I was able to remedy this situation using MSI's technical support. Emailed them my problem and got a reply within about a half hour. Drain the battery less than 10%, then charge it back. It worked. Glad they could help but I had to knock off a star because it should boot up all the way to 100% without me having to contact them.

Very happy.

Been running this for over a month so far. This computer is phenomenal, it has not had a hard time doing anything I have thrown at it so far and I am so happy that I chose on that was still Windows 7. The screen has wonderful definition, the processor never hangs up, runs incredibly cool, rarely have to have the fan spool up. I will change the HDD one day to SSD, that is the only weak link I have found so far and also, I wish it had two additional USB ports on the rear instead of only on the sides.

***Update III*** Ok, not to flog a dead horse, but I have now added a 500gb SSD to my system in the second hard drive bay, and now this computer absolutely screams. I now have a 120gb ssd as the primary drive and a 480 gb ssd in the secondary drive bay, for a total of 600gb of ssd goodness. I re-ran the Windows Experience Index and came up with 7.9s across the board so my score is 7.9 and the machine is an absolute monster. Have only played older games up til now (KOTOR, The Witcher I & II, and just began Lord of the Rings Online), and so far, the system is flawless. I am so glad I found a model with Windows 7 installed, everything is familiar to me and runs without a hitch. At this price point, there isn't a better gaming laptop available on the market, period. You simply cannot do better than this beast, no matter how hard you look, and trust me, I looked and looked for months before I committed to dropping $1500 plus on a computer. This thing will serve me well for years to come before technology outpaces me yet again and I need to upgrade yet again. Fortunately, today's newer machinesare much easier to add components to without the need to purchase complete new units. Bottom line: There is no better gaming laptop available at this price, and probably not even at slightly higher prices (at least not at $2000 or less). You should order one of these now if you can afford it and are looking for a blazing fast gamer unit. It just needs a couple of easy upgrades, and you will have a caged monster on your hands!!! Buy this model, from this manufacturer, now!!!

***Update*** This model apparently only has one hard drive bay, I'm not sure about PCIE slots, fingers crossed...
