MSI Wind U100-427 10-Inch Pink Netbook - 2.5 Hour Battery Life

I bought this net book for my wife three months ago. She loves the pink cover.
We travel a lot and she uses this for email, chating, music and surfing in general. The battery lastes 4-5 hours while on the wifi.
The speakers are a little lacking but accepable.
I highly recommend this machine for anyone looking for a light weight powerfull portable.

Back in the old days of 1998 my husband came home with a 'laptop' computer, going on about how it was so wonderful. I agreed with the concept - leaving the confines of your house and being about to work on the road, in a hotel, or a la Jack Kerouac writing any time any place. But then i saw the animal. !? It was huge and heavy and broke my shoulder just hauling it around. Along ... lo many years later....came the MSi Wind - the real personal computer. She's pink - my favorite color (okay, don't laugh) and sooo cute. She has a great wireless card, and everything i need in a computing pal. She's my best electronic buddy. Light and quick. I've written two novels on her and lots of blogs and short stories. Amazing, you'll love her - or if you get it in black or blue or whatever...? Enjoy

My wife loves her new netbook. The hard drive is huge for a laptop this size. Everything works really well. I wish it didn't run Windows XP (Vista or W7 would be better), but since her old computer had XP she's right at home.

The only negatives so far are the loud fan (although after a couple of weeks of ownership, it either doesn't come on very much or we're used to it) and the screen strains the eyes after browsing for a long time. It's also a little weird to have to use another computer to install software (from a DVD) on this one and there aren't instructions about how to do this for a novice.

We haven't traveled with this yet, but it should be nice compared to my 17.1 inch Toshiba laptop.

Works as you expect it to. Lots of things already installed and I had it up and running the way I wanted it in no time at all. The machine is well built and quiet with good screen producing a good visual display. I would recommend this laptop to anyone in the market for a lightweight, decent 10 inch, very portable machine.

Bought 2 of the wind u100 for my 8yr old daughters.
The netbooks are excellent, setup takes 15mins out of the box, and pretty much everything you require is already loaded.
Battery life is only about 2 hours, but these days your never far from a power source.
If i have one complaint, its that it does not pick up the WIFI that strongly, but that could be my router.
Well worth the money.

I bought this at Best Buy. I travel between NYC & CT all the time. I stop in Starbucks get my clients e/mails out etc; I also dropped the thing ! I had it plugged in one time and grabbed it off my kitchen counter it flew 6 feet ( I am always in a hurry ) I dropped it quite a few times. It does not have a dent on it ! I up-graded to a bigger battery it last forever. I love this sturdy notebook ! One of my clients had the Air Mac and went to this. Her Mac fell a-part flat !( she lo-ooves it ) Nothing against Mac of course EVERYONE has one in the city if you do not like the small e/mailing from the blackberry and want a portable you can use anywhere this is it just get a broadband card and you are portable. BTW- I have owned it for a year now.

Has a decent battery life and works fine for basic needs, but there's a few things I'm not happy about. One, the wireless card is a bit weak and also drops signal occassionally, which is highly annoying during large file xfers. Two, the battery is the heaviest part and they placed it in the back of the unit, so that if you aren't securing it and/or holding it just right, it'll tip over backwards - DON'T leave the screen open too far if you're putting it on a table or high surface. Three, the period, comma, and question mark keys are extra small, even after 6 weeks of using I still have problems with hitting the wrong keys sometimes. The worst part about that is, they left a whole key's worth of EMPTY SPACE in that key row, next to the page up button which could have easily been given to the keys instead. It just makes no sense why that wasted space is there. The speakers aren't that great but I have yet to find a notebook that has good speakers, so that's pretty common. Lastly, it's not great for editing video, audio, or large photos. All in all, a decent sidekick computer or starter notebook, but it's kind of like a toy... I'll be replacing it within the year..

The product was great except for one thing, the wireless would constantly drop every 45 seconds, making it unbearable to surf the internet. Returned and got a different netbook instead.

I bought this for my sister and she loves it. Have not heard any complaints. It's such a practical machine.

I bought this for my wife as a work tool, but it has been used mostly by my teenage daughter as a facebook/internet connection. My wife is not especially patient with technology and has been frustrated by the compact keyboard. She is an exceptional keyboardist but finds herself making mistakes with this because she cannot get accustomed to the size. My daughter uses it all the time and enjoys it. Sometimes the screen is too small for an internet game or something, but overall it works well for her purposes.

The product is not designed as a desktop publishing unit and would not function well for that purpose for "older" folks. Young people, who are accustomed to phone sized keyboards probably wouldn't mind using it for papers or taking notes.

The quality of the product itself has been very good and we have had no problems - and the price was very affordable.
