5.0 out of 5 stars Good for Boiling
This little kettle is great for boiling or using as a cup or bowl. The lid fits tight to help speed boiling, and has a hole to release steam. The handles on the side fold against the side of the assemble for storage. Don't be surprised by the units small size. Intended for backpacking

3.0 out of 5 stars The Dribbles
It's great quality like most MSR I would have liked it to hold a few more ounces. If you boil a full pot there is no way to start pouring without dribbling some till the water level is lower! Best to fill 3/4 full or beware of some really hot water where you might not want it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great little pot for backpackers, June 18, 2009
This review is from: Titan Kettle (Sports)
The MSR Titan kettle is exactly the right size for a double-size freeze-dried meal, a couple of packs of ramen, a Lipton's meal, or enough hot water to make a single meal and have a hot beverage. There's an indentation on the bottom that keeps it stable on a cat food or soda can alcohol stove. The lid fits snugly so it doesn't fall off and it might even save you from losing your dinner if you knock it over. It will hold the stove and a windscreen when packing it up, plus your lighter and a spoon. The spout is very handy and the handles fold against the body. It's lightweight, too.

There are three drawbacks: the high price, it's hard to clean when making meals with creamy sauces as they tend to stick, and the handles get hot so you have to either let them cool or use a bandana.

Overall it's probably the best little backpacking pot there is if you can spare the bucks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, December 6, 2009
This review is from: Titan Kettle (Sports)
The Titan Kettle is nearly perfect. It's lightweight, packs very nicely, and is sized to hold enough water for two meals or one meal and a cup of coffee. I was also able to pack my Simmerlite stove inside the kettle which was very convenient. The lid fits snug and the fold-away handles worked just fine (although, the handles will get hot depending on how you position the kettle and/or the flame intensity). My only wish for improvement would be volume indicators on the inside of the kettle.

5.0 out of 5 stars All a backpacker needs, January 1, 2009

I've used my MSR Titan kettle for backpacking for years now. It's ideally suited for use with alcohol and Esbit stoves. It boils enough water for freezer bag cooking with left over to make tea which I drink directly from the kettle, using it as a mug. I have a cozy made of Reflectix which goes around the kettle to keep the tea warm on cold, windy days. Stove, stand, lighter and windscreen fit into the kettle when in my pack.

4.0 out of 5 stars MSR Titan Kettle, July 22, 2008

The MSR Titan Kettle works well. I am pleased with its durability, weight, and packability. The only downside is that the lid fits very snugly, so you need two hands to remove it. Then again, that probably contributes to its packability.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect all-around cup/bowl/pot, May 21, 2010

This is a great one-pot-does-it-all kettle. It's sized so it can be a large mug or small pot. A little too small if you're thinking this pot is for one-person, one-pot system. You'll have to be a real minimalist. I used it as part of two-person, 3 pot/bowl system. Gives great versatility.

Super lightweight as expected with titanium pots. Lid fits very snug to the pot. Won't fall off. If anything, you have to yank pretty hard to take it off. The handles will get hot if the pot is placed on a stove/open flame, but what can you do? I just used gloves.

It's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. High quality, durability, lightweight. Overall, I love this kettle. It'll be part of my cookware for years to come. If you can afford it, get it.

4.0 out of 5 stars great kettle, January 13, 2012

A bit smaller than expected, but it will work excellently for my single camping trips.

Yes it will hold both the small and large MSR fuel containers quite easily.

Not sure how people get the pocket rocket and a small fuel canister to fit.

so thin it works as well as aluminum as far as heat transfer from your stove. great lid. handles stay cool, unless your flame gets really crazy. great for boiling a 1-person noodle meal...as well as coffee...soup...not too awkward to drink from.

5.0 out of 5 stars MSR Titan Kettle, August 24, 2011
This review is from: Titan Kettle (Misc.)
I have used this little Pot, Mug, Bowl for several years now it is simply awesome. The lid fits snugly and has a vent hole in the top to prevent boil over. I nest a small alcohol stove in it with the Titan Cup and it makes a great little cook set. I keep it in my Versa Pack and still have room for other day hiking and camping essentials. It holds enough for a good meal for one or two depending on how much you call a meal. Expensive? Yes. And worth every penny. I also own the Snow Peak Trek Combo, and a similar sized Evernew Titanium non-stick combo. But for personal use, this is my favorite. Some complain about the tight fitting lid. I do not. I like the fact that when it is stashed, you don't have to worry about holding the lid on and your gear rattling around. I am a fan of MSR gear as I also own the Mini Works, and a now discontinued Super Fusion Tent. This little item exudes the same quality and eye for detail that MSR is known for. Take the hit on the price and just buy it. You won't be sorry and should never need to replace it unless of course it gets run over :)
