The handles do not get hot at all when boiling half a liter. When boiling a full liter they get warm but are easily handled. When folded down on the same side the handles hold the lid in place so it will not fall off in your pack.
The lid naturally stays on when pouring. It’s not obvious from the pictures but the pot has a round bead around the opening for the lid. The edge of the lid is rounded over to allow it to catch on the bead and not fall off. When you start pouring gravity causes the lid to slide so that the round lid edge catches on the bead; thus holding the lid on. The center of the lid has a black insulated handle that you can also hold on with your finger when pouring (it is insulated and will not burn your finger)
The outlet spout is very accurate when pouring (no dribbles or spills) but is a bit small and will take about 30 seconds to pour out the full contents of the pot. The lid may leak a little bit if you are not patient and pour at too great an angle.
The design is very compact and efficient in it’s use of space in your pack. It can hold a PocketRocket stove (with case) inside along with matches, igniters, and other small items.
It is about 5.625” in diameter and 3.5” tall. The top lid opening is 3.75” in diameter. Stainless is not as light as Ti or Al but it looks like it will take a beating in your pack and have a long lifespan.
This pot was stolen from the box on our doorstep when it was delivered to our house, two days before we were supposed to leave on our trip. Amazon shipped another one that arrived the next day--their customer service was great!
