    Towel dries quickly for packing.

They do hold a surprising amount of water but wring out and dry very quickly, as advertised.

It will get you dry as can be, but it doesn't feel luxurious like a regular towel.

This is NOT your typical travel towel. If your main purpose is for a towel to lay on the beach or use as a picnic spread, this towel is okay, but there are probably better. However, this towel is a sponge and wrings out about 95% dry. My main purpose in buying it was to use it for laundry when I travel. I have several generic "microfiber" towels. When you do travel laundry, the microfiber will help with exactly one load before it too is soaked. A Packtowl Original will help dry several items of clothing and can be wrung out to help dry more. After failing miserably in Spain with a microfiber towel for laundry, I used this towel in the Yucatan and it was a champ. Plus, because it wrings out so much water, it was always dry in the morning. As an aside, this towel does get softer when you wash it, but that is a relatively unimportant factor for me. We also used it after going to cenotes to swim and the superior absorbant capacity meant one towel was able to dry two adults several times in the course of a day. Again, don't confuse this with the average microfiber towel.

I bought this towel on the recommendation of [...] as a super-duper-lightweight towel with near magical properties. It contains more viscose than most ultralights.

I'm pretty happy with it. It weighs next to nothing, the X-Large is plenty big for me, and it dries really quickly.

Be aware that it doesn't feel like a normal towel. It is flat and smooth without the terrycloth weave of regular towels. Thus rather than the full, rubbing dry you get with regular towels, I find you have to kind of 'pat yourself down' with it. Though it absorbs fabulously it still feels damp much more than a regular towel. If you can imagine it, the sensation is similar to drying yourself with slightly damp paper towels. It will get you dry as can be, but it doesn't feel luxurious like a regular towel.

It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it has great advantages if you can live with the new sensation.

If you are looking for a light weight, water absorbing, and dependable towel this is the one. I bought my first one years ago and have used it on all my backpacking trips; so have some of my friends that have forgotten theirs. I recommend washing it a couple of times before the first use to soften it up a bit. Do not buy this product if you are looking for luxury, this does it's job, period.

I would prefered chosing the XL one, but this one handles at the edge my drying needs, if you are taller than 5'10 i would recomend XL.

The material is awsome, it dryes very quikly and handles a lot of water.

My towel arrived just int time for my trip but not in time for me to wash it first. Too bad as it was stiff as a board. I eventually had a chance to throw it in the wash and dryer after which it was nice and soft and packed better as a result. However, it has not been the miracle drying thing I was hoping for. It takes a little longer to dry than I would have hoped. Granted some climates I have been in were a bit on the damp side but still, it shouldn't take 12 hours for a towel designed to dry quickly to dry. Just saying.

this towel is big enough to wrap around my body, but thin enough to compact into a small space for traveling in my back pack. It does arrive as stiff as cardboard, but once it is washed, it becomes soft and absorbent. I had read some reviews stating it "sticks to you skin" or "feels like drying off with a sheet of rubber", I didn't find either of these claims to be true. This towel is soft and dried me from head to toe, while it only became slightly damp in the end. I was actually drier after using this towel than I am from my regular plush towels in my bathroom at home. It even has a loop on one corner to hang it up in awkward places that might not have towel bars, plus the loop has a snap on it so you can hang it anywhere even if there is no hook! The color blue is dark enough that any eventual stains will not be off-putting, as uses for a towel like this usually take place in hostels or the great outdoors where dirt & stains are a part of life. I can't recommend this towel enough!

I bought this to replace my REI packtowel. While this one is very absorbent, two things annoy me: first, that the texture of the towel is not the greatest- it feels a bit like felt. My other complaint is that it's very difficult to fold the towel to get it back in its mesh sack. Other than that, it's super functional.
