"Best" travel towel for serious travelers.,

This is NOT your typical travel towel. If your main purpose is for a towel to lay on the beach or use as a picnic spread, this towel is okay, but there are probably better. However, this towel is a sponge and wrings out about 95% dry. My main purpose in buying it was to use it for laundry when I travel. I have several generic "microfiber" towels. When you do travel laundry, the microfiber will help with exactly one load before they too are soaked. A Packtowl Original with help dry several items of clothing and can be wrung out to help dry more. After failing miserably in Spain with a microfiber towel for laundry, I used this towel in the Yucatan and it was a champ. Plus, because it wrings out so much water, it was always dry in the morning. As an aside, this towel does get softer when you wash it, but that is a relatively unimportant factor for me. We also used it after going to cenotes to swim and the superior absorbant capacity meant one towel was able to dry two adults several times in the course of a day. Again, don't confuse this with the average microfiber towel.

I bought this towel on the recommendation of [...] as a super-duper-lightweight towel with near magical properties. It contains more viscose than most ultralights.
I'm pretty happy with it. It weighs next to nothing, the X-Large is plenty big for me, and it dries really quickly. Be aware that it doesn't feel like a normal towel. It is flat and smooth without the terrycloth weave of regular towels. Thus rather than the full, rubbing dry you get with regular towels, I find you have to kind of 'pat yourself down' with it. Though it absorbs fabulously it still feels damp much more than a regular towel. If you can imagine it, the sensation is similar to drying yourself with slightly damp paper towels. It will get you dry as can be, but it doesn't feel luxurious like a regular towel. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it has great advantages if you can live with the new sensation.

Essential travel towel,

If you are looking for a light weight, water absorbing, and dependable towel this is the one. I bought my first one years ago and have used it on all my backpacking trips; so have some of my friends that have forgotten theirs. I recommend washing it a couple of times before the first use to soften it up a bit. Do not buy this product if you are looking for luxury, this does it's job, period.
