4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Stove, July 18, 2007
This review is from: MSR SimmerLite Stove (Sports)
Burns hot, relativly easy simmer, lightweight, refillable. I do alot of camping and didn't want to have to pick up canisters all the time, so I opted for the simmerlite. I've been completely satisfied. One issue might be mainatinance issues, i.e. cleaning.

4.0 out of 5 stars MSR Simmerlite Stove, March 8, 2007
Flame control has been greatly improved over the Whisperlite. Very lite stove that comes in a handy pouch. The pre heat part of lighting the stove could be improved. Overall a great backpack stove.

I love this stove. It's easy to light (read the instructions) and runs great. Gotta use the shield for maximum efficiency. It's stable and packs small. A well built product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simmer is questionable, but a great little stove, March 20, 2010
This review is from: MSR SimmerLite Stove (Misc.)
I do like this stove, but the simmer capabilities are not as advertised. Several friends have also tried to get it to simmer, and unless the bottle pressure is low it has a fairly limited heat range. It's simple enough to repair and a nice size, but the whisperlite seems to be more stable on rough terrain. This stove has such small/pointed feet that without it's base it can easily be tipped. It heats up quickly to light and has the same shake to clean mechanism common on MSR stoves. Overall, could simmer better, but it's well built and compact for a bottle stove.
