We bought this "MSR SweetWater Purifier Solution" after using the bottle included in the MSR SweetWater Purifier System. This uses chlorine instead of iodine to treat suspect water and I like the taste much better. If being used on a camping or hiking trip with kids, consider bringing along a few packs of Kool-Aid mix to add to the treated water since it does mask most of the aftertaste.

These drops can be used in conjunction with a water purifying system or just on their own. I wish had taken some along on a business trip to Argentina a few years back, as I'm sure it would have saved me a few very unpleasant days.

I used this on a long hike on filtered stream water. The water tasted surprisingly fresh going down but it did have a mild, persistent aftertaste. A good trade-off vs getting sick.

I ordered this product for a upcoming vacation to Europe. Even nonpathological local bacteria can make tourists ill so I figure an ounce of prevention is worth...anyway I tested it as directed and I thought the water smelled a bit chlorinated, but it tasted fine. I will be using this for my day trips out to museums where I will carry treated tap water.
