Very nice knife.
Michael Everage
I'd buy this knife again easily and would consider it for gifts for someone in the market for a good neck knife.
Lawrence
The kydex sheath is well crafted and the belt clip can be used vertical or horizontal.

I purchased this to fill the need for a economical all purpose type of blade that could easily be belt mounted or attached to Molle/Pals webbing as a backup/SD knife. I researched this item here and elsewhere and was attracted to it by its size (bigger than most neck knives, but smaller than most fixed blades), the 440C steel which is actually good knife steel, the kydex sheath, and of course the price.

The knife was shipped quickly and arrived with no issues, HOWEVER when I opened the box the knife looked very dingy, not quite rusty but almost like Patina/powder coated. The "Micarta" handles were loose and had a white dusty film on it, and I could not for the life of me get the knife out of the sheath! After some expletives and working the blade around I was able to get it out and thats when I noticed the dingy condition of the steel and the handles. I was very frustrated but since I had just returned a CRKT knife (see my other review) I decided to work with it a little and see what happens. I removed the loose handles with a Star wrench and gave the knife a good rubdown with Hoppe's Gun oil and then a buffing with a soft cloth. It took a few times but the "crud" came off and the knife looked like it should and did in all of its online pictures. I also cleaned/lightly oiled the handles and then reattached them. The knife had a nice sharp edge and with some elbow grease it cleaned up perfect. I then proceeded to "break in" the sheath by putting the knife in and out but it continued to get stuck. I finally put the knife halfway in to where the locking point with spread open a little more and then used a lighter to heat the kydex to soften and set it. This seemed to help and after more insertion/removals it loosened up.

I bought this knife based off the other reviewers review. The knife arrived just as he had stated, with a white film on it. I took the handle off, rubbed it down with a dry cloth (did not need oil). I washed the micarta handles and put it back together. Looks like it should come new but for $14 how can you complain.

The construction is solid. No flaws that I can see in the milling or with the grind. The slab of steal is very thick so it will take a beating and keep going.

440 Stainless is decent steal, especially for $14. It was semi sharp but a few minutes on my Sharpmaker and she's as sharp as my other knives.

On to the one bad part, the sheath. I actually cut my hand trying to pull this out the first time. It looks to me that they melted the kydex onto the knife and the shipped it out (this could be what the white film is from) and this causes it to not come out due to the blade design. As the other reviewer stated, once I had the knife out I pushed it part of the way in, maybe half. Then I used a lighter (a heat gun would be more efficient but I was being lazy) and heated the kydex till it was hot. Let it cool and harden again and now the blade slides in and out like it should. If you look at the sheath and can see it molded for the blade design but it won't pull out because the part just before the micarta handle is half the size of the blade.

I would recommend this blade to anyone as it is a very good knife, especially for $14. Just be aware that you will have to clean it up when you get it and slightly modify the sheath. Oh, and sharpen it if you want it razor sharp like I do!

amazing value, but tight out of the sheath from the get go. just use it 50 times or so in and out or if that bothers you then try a heat gun or hair dryer to flex the plastic a little. i purchased this because my $32.00 becker necker kept falling out of the sheath during the day...(dangerous)!

I got this because it looked like a great little necker knife with a kydex sheath and micarta scales for only 13 bucks!
1. When I received it, it wouldn't come out of its sheath. The sheath was very poorly formed and took almost all my strength to take it out. I had to break one of the gromets for it to come out sensibly. Even now the sheath is almost useless.
2. The fit and finish was awful, the micarta scales come loose after light use, and look awful; which would typically be forgiveable at 13$ Except...
3. The blade will not hold and edge! I suspect the steel wasn't heat treated at all. This knife can take a sharp edge and hold for approximately one slice. After that it's just gets plain dull.
I see these selling for $18 now, When you consider that good manufactures (kabar, boker, CrKt,) will sell their extremely well designed and well executed neck knives for anywhere between 20-35 bucks, there is absolutely no reason to get this Mtech. I've had good experience with mtech in the past (see mtech 151, one of the best values anywhere) but they really need to step up their game to be able to compete with the other guys. I know it's made in china, but they could have used a decent Chinese steel like 8cr13mov ( and that really isn't anything special) but they didn't. Instead it's probably an untreated 400 series mystery steel that will not hold an edge.
At the end of the day if you don't mind spending your money on a cool looking knife that performs on the same level as a butter knife then be my guest. I however cannot reccommend this product.
